Three Years Later...
"Daddy wake up!" I felt a small hand hit my face, I smiled opening my eyes to see our daughter Elora looking at me in her Christmas onesie.
"What are you doing up baby girl?"
"I wanted to see if Santa came."
"Santa can't come if you're awake."
"Can we check and see please?"
"Fine." She took my hand and pulled me out of the bed, careful not to wake up Alanna. For the past few days she'd been dealing with the flu and I had been on major daddy duty making sure all three kids were fed and kept occupied with school being out.
"Daddy look Santa came."
"I see, let's get your brother and sister and make breakfast for mommy then open presents."
"Okay." She ran up the stairs to get her siblings while I started getting the ingredients out to make our famous pancakes, her words not mine.
"Merry Christmas daddy."
"Merry Christmas Elina." About a year after we got full custody of Eliana she started calling both Alana and I mom and dad. Although we assured her that she didn't have to, she felt ready to call us that and we were both happy that she saw us as her own parents. Next down the stairs was the other man of the house Acer.
"Merry Christmas dad, can I open presents now?"
"Merry Christmas lad, we're fixing breakfast first."
"Okay, can I flip the pancakes this time."
"Sure." With all three kids having their own task, breakfast was made in a timely manner. Once we set the table and cleaned up our mess I went upstairs to wake up Alana.
