Detention Part 3

3rd Person POV
Nik ran through the halls of Kent high school with Zoey, Leshaen, and Noodle. "There might be a radio in the teachers' lounge." said Leshean as he ran into a room. "Are we allowed to go in there?" Zoey asked and Nik facepalmed.
"Oh, my God." She said looking out the window when we were inside. "It's everywhere." Noodle gave Nik a hug before pulling out his phone. "I got no bars." he said in an annoyed tone. "I'm not getting a signal." Zoey said staring at her phone screen. "What do we have here?" asked Noodle digging through the fridge. "Want some crappy wine?" Nik laughed at his antics which made him smile at her until Leshean ruined it. "Come on, man, stop playing around." he said and glared at Nik who flinched again and moved away from her psychotic brother. Noodle put the bottle back in the fridge and moved to stand in front of Nik with an arm behind him holding on to her. "What do ya have against Nik anyway?" Noodle asked Leshaen who just scoffed. "She's your sister" that struck a nerve. "That?" asked Leshean pointing at Nik. "That is not my sister." a tear trickled down Niks face. "She's just a mistake, that's why your parents got rid if you right?" he guess wrong and laughed as more tears flooded down her face. "What the heck is wrong with you man?" asked Noodle to his so called best friend who just shrugged in reply and grabbed a shocked Zoey before leaving.
Noodle turned back to a crying Nik. The anger in his eyes vanished as he hugged her. He whispered in her ear. "Maybe he won't protect you But I promise Nik Devereux, I will always protect you."

"Hey" Grover said to Natalie who was looking out the window in an empty classroom. "Any luck?" he asked and she shook her head. "No, I have tried every single room on the second floor and there's no signal anywhere.
There's nothing. It's crazy.
There's no view at all anywhere." she replied. She suddenly stopped and rushed towards the window. "Hey, what is it?" Grover asked urgently. "Never mind." She replied distractledy "I-I thought I heard a siren." she finished. "I don't hear anything at all, except the wind." Grover said back. "That's weird, right? I mean, we should be hearing sirens or-or helicopters or something." said Natalie confused.

"Nothing?" Violet asked the coach walking in to him trying to use the phone. "Nope." he replied sighing. "We're gonna be here for a while."

Everyone was spread out in the lounge trying to get some sleep when Nik walked in. Violet was on one of the couches and Mary was on another. Leshaen and Zoey were cuddling on the last one and Barrett was on the floor. She could barely see Noodle who was curled up in a ball on a big chair in the corner of the room. Nik walked over to the wall on one side of the room and layer down next to it pulling her blanket over her shivering. She wimpered slightly because of how cold she was. "You ok?" she heard someone ask and she turned over to see Noodle had come over to where she was. She shook her head sadly. "Can't sleep?" he asked and she shook Her head. "Its t-t-t-to cold" she said shivering. "Well maybe if you were wearing the rest of your shirt you wouldn't be so cold." he said smirking and she glared at him as best she could while still shivering. Noodle looked at her sympathetically. "Here" he said and unzipped his jacket putting it around her. "Noodle I-" she started to protest but Noodle stopped her. "I have an idea." He said and pulled her up from the ground after she zipped up the jacket. He pulled her over to the chair he was on and sat down pulling Her down into his lap. "There now you're keeping me warm too. Its a win win." he said smiling. She was to tired to argue so she just got off his lap and repositioned herself so that her head was resting on the arm rest. Noodle layer down behind her and had one arm resting wrapped around Nik waist who was blushing.

"Sorry."
"No, I wasn't even asleep."
"I wish I could."
"I'm this crazy mix of of totally exhausted and totally wide awake."
"It's adrenaline."
"It's shock."
Nik heard the conversation with closed eyelids over Noodles quiet snores.
"Do you think anyone from the lower valley made it?" this sparked Nik's attention and she opened her eyes to see Natalie and Mary talking. "I want to believe they did." Nik mumbled which made Mary and Natalie turn to her. "Oh Hey didn't know you were awake." Nik just lightly shrugged the best she could with Noodles head in the crook of her neck. "I just keep thinking that I just want to be home. And than I realize that home probably isn't even there anymore." Mary said and they nodded. "I didn't say goodbye to my parents this morning." Natalie deadpanned. "I keep trying to remember what the last thing we said to each other was and I can't. We didn't say good night last night. I'm not even sure we talked at all yesterday." she said sniffling. A tear trickled down Nik's face at the mention of parents as she remembered the mangled body of her own. Noodle seemed to sense her distress and He flipped her over and pulled her into his chest as She silently cried into the soft material of his Jersey. She vaguely heard the beginnings of a conversation between Violet and Grover consisting of "thanks" And "You look out for her." and then a soft chuckle before falling asleep.

Nik heard a loud clattering and almost woke up but thought it was nothing and curled back into a sleeping Noodle who pulled her closer to him with one arm and kissed her for head before putting his head back in the crook of her neck and she snuggled back into him before hearing loud talking in the other room. She groaned and started to get up but Noodle pulled her back "where you going?" he asked in a low sleepy voice. She giggled "I'll be right back." she said and He gave her a worried glance before nodding. She walking into the next room to see Diesel holding a knife up to Grover. Diesel chuckled "I don't like you." He said to Grover. "I don't like him either but let's put the knife away" Nik said announcing her presence in the room. He put it in his pocket. "But, Diesel, if you think about it, you started it. I mean, you called me a loser" Grover said Nik shook her head and left the room seeing as how it looked like this argument would last a while. Nik went to the bathroom and did her business then walked out. Someone or something ran up to her and shoved her against the lockers. She screamed and shoved it off then saw who it was "Lyle? Lyle, what happened to you?" she asked Grover came around the corner. He must of heard her scream. "All dead." Lyle said and Grover and Nik looked at each other "Wait, wait, who's dead?" Grover asked. "Lyle, they can't all be dead." Nik finished but Lyle repeated the same phrase.
"All dead."
