"We grew up learning to cheer on the underdog because we see ourselves in them."

Shane Koyczan

That quote kept replaying in my head. For some reason that quote spoke to me. My friends and I were the underdogs of, well of the entire town we lived in. I was standing at the top of the Golden Gate Bridge as the rain left spots on my glasses (yes I wear glasses), but thank GOD I was good at ignoring that. My hair was pulled up into a high ponytail. I was wearing a black flannel with purple and white stripes on it with black jeans and converse. There were cops cutting off people from going across the bridge, since the whole world was aware about this battle. Some people showed up just to see the battle like it was some sort of movie. I felt my phone buzz. It was my friends.

M: Sophia! Your online! Please answer!

R: You're on the news, people are going crazy...

C: ANSWER YOUR TEXT WOMAN!

S: I'll see you all later

I turned my phone off and set it down. I looked down the edge of the bridge. The waves were starting to act up. He was here. I looked down at the road and saw Mike staring up at me. We made eye contact for a few moments. Then Mike made the first move. He attacked the pillar I was standing on top of. To my surprise, it started crumbling down! He had gotten way stronger! Thankfully the pillar fell to the side towards the ocean, and it didn't take the rest of the bridge down with it. Before the pillar hit the ocean I ran down it, jumped off, and punched Mike square in the face.

Michelle's POV

We were all gathered at Rachel's house. Including the 4 guys and a couple of our other friends. We were watching Sophia and Mike battle on the news. Every second watching felt like my head was being held underwater. Like I had to hold my breath. None of us spoke. We were pulled into the news station. After one of the pillars was taken down by Mike, we saw a flash of fire. It was Sophia. She punched him right in the jaw. From there it was all out war.

Sophia's POV

"Agh!" Mike pushed me against the railing which almost led to me falling off the bridge. It was a struggle trying to fight him. My arm was shaking like crazy and I couldn't tell but I wouldn't be surprised if it was fucking smoking. Any time I would surround my body in flames, he would punch me and water would spew out of his fist, then the water would put out the flames. And once my flames go out my punches weren't as strong. This made it way easier for Mike to attack me. "God damn!" I yelled. "Water against fire?! Shit! This is cheating by this point!" He just ignored me. I guess he was still pissed about Cassie. "Are you still pissed about Cassie?! Jesus man, I'm sorry!" His eyes darkened.

"Do not say that name, you have no right." He said in a deep voice. Almost like my grandfather's.

"Mike! You and I both know we don't want to do this! Lets just-!" Mike completely interrupted me and he punched me right where the scar was. I fell onto my arms and knees and my chest started bleeding. When I looked down there was red all over my flannel and drips of blood fell to the ground like it was raining blood.

Michelle's POV

Sophia got punched in the chest. It took us all a moment to process where she got hit. Then we all remembered her scar. "The scar!" I hollered out. The cameraman zoomed in on Sophia. We noticed blood on the ground. My eyes widened. "We have to go!"

"But how are we gonna help?!" Ryan said.

"Any way we can! Distracting Mike! I don't know! But I can't just sit here and watch while our friend is getting beat up like crazy! For all we know she could die tonight!" I yelled at him. Everyone stayed quiet. "She almost died last time... I don't want to witness that again." I faced the ground. I meant everything I said. Rachel, Caitlin and Sophia we no friend to me. They were sisters.

     "I agree." Rachel said.

"Me too." Caitlin said. I looked at them and smiled. Of course those two agreed.

"Whoa whoa!" It was Rachel's mom. "You aren't going anywhere!" She said.

     "But mom!" Rachel screamed.

"Just because she's your friend doesn't mean you should go following her!"

"She ain't my friend!" Rachel yelled. "She's more of a sister! You wouldn't know!" Then Rachel stormed outside. Caitlin and I ran after her. We couldn't find her.

"Where'd she go?!" Caitlin yelled. I was about to start panicking when I suddenly heard a voice call out for us.

"Hey!" Rachel's voice. Sophia's mom was in the van and Rachel was in the back seat. Caitlin and I smiled at each other.

"Let's get going girls!" Sophia's mom said. The two of us piled into the van and quickly put on our seat belts as Sophia's mom stepped on the gas pedal. The feeling of being drowned started to fade away. Caitlin quickly pulled up a live stream from a new station of the battle. Sophia was okay, but her arm was shaking from being shocked so much. Hang in there... Sophia

Sophia's POV

It had been 10 minutes since our fight began. Both of us were covered in bruises and cuts. I had a cut across the side of my forehead and my arm was bleeding from being shocked so many times. I didn't know that was possible. Mike had a cut across his left cheek. We were both tired as hell, but we kept fighting. "M-Mike!" I called out between breaths. He stopped using his abilities to let me talk. Thank God... I got rid of the flames surrounding me to let my body rest up from being shocked. "I know that you want revenge. But honestly, what happiness will that give you?" The look on his face... If I didn't know any better he probably was about to agree to stop. But instead he kicked me to fall onto my ground. "Damn it!" I yelled. I tried to spawn a flame but my whole body hurt way too much. I kept trying and trying but the flames just wouldn't stay.

Caitln's POV

"Guys her abilities aren't working!" I exclaimed.

"Shit!" Rachel screamed. Michelle and I watched the stream while Rachel kept checking to see how close we were. Most of the traffic was headed the opposite way of us since people probably thought their lives would end if they stayed at San Francisco. FREAKING PEOPLE...

Sophia's POV

Fuck it... I thought. I weakly sat up and held out my right arm. I closed my eyes and forced all of my flames on the rims of the metal piece. It hurt a lot but my plan was working. The metal piece started to melt off my arm. "No way..." Mike said.

Caitlin's POV

"Guys look..." I said. The other two looked over my shoulders at the live stream. We watched as the metal piece slowly melted off of Sophia's arm and dripped onto the ground.

     "Holy fuck." Rachel said.

"Whoa...!" Michelle said in excitement. She sounded like a little kid watching their favorite show.

Sophia's POV

I was finally freed from that damned thing. I slowly stood up and surrounded my arms with fire. It didn't sting. I smiled a little. "Finally..." I mumbled to myself.

"Shit." Mike said. Instead of attacking me he just stared right at me. I suddenly felt like there was water filling up my lungs. I coughed a little and nothing came up, but I could still breathe normally. There was nothing wrong. I guess he was trying to kill me from the inside out, but failed. He tilted his head. "How the...?"

"Heh... That doesn't work on other ability users..." I smirked.

"How did you...?" He trailed off.

"Don't ask me." I said. "But it looks like I win..." Mike looked like he was trying to be pissed but was actually okay with this. I sighed. "Listen, I don't wanna hurt you." He looked at me.

     "Oh really?"

"Yea. Your the only other person that has abilities like me. Shouldn't we at least try to come to an agreement?" I explained. Everything was quiet. And instead of an answer, he tried to punch me again. I ended up blocking him. Fire spewed out of my fist and water out of Mike's. And the punch was so hard it pushed Mike back. I ran towards him. I could feel it. This would be the last attack. One of us would fall after this. We ran to each other. And that's all I remember before falling to the ground.
