Chapter 4 | Grey
I rouse from the heavy sleep, stretching my arms out, and lifted myself up, using my elbows. Memories of last night came flooding back to my mind, and I recalled that I had slept while waiting for him to come home. I looked at the open window to the side, and it was early morning. My head quickly spun around to the empty space beside me and I sighed.
He has still not returned?
Is something wrong?
I checked around the room, my eyes scanning all the objects, things, ties, belts, shoes, dresses that lay around the messy black room, I tried to find a slight change in them. Any clue to know that he has returned home.
He hasn't.
With a sad sigh, I got out of bed, trying to brush him off my mind, I hopped my way to the bathroom for a quick shower. But before that, I did something that I love to do when I wake up early in the morning. I almost ran to the window and placed my elbow on the rail, my head resting on my fist as I admired the beautiful sunrise.
This morning wasn't gray, but by soothing lavender and brilliant amber. The colors merged into neon pink and peach. I tried to wake up early each morning to watch the sunrise. And If I miss it, I get to the see the sunset. After all, I could only see so many.
Feeling a little content and in a better mood, I stepped into the shower, toes flinching as they touched the chilled ceramic floor, and let out a giggle. Hopping into the shower, the sensation of the steamy water calms me; it takes my mind of things.
After a relaxing shower, I went infront of the mirror and examined myself and looked at my pale white skin, and touched my platinum blonde hair, with blue and pink on its ends.
An idea popped into my mind, and I seperated my hair into halves. I tied the hair with the blue dye in pigtails and did the same with the other.
Now, I look more organised. Giving myself a small smile, I walked closer to the mirror and stuck my tongue out, making funny faces and laughed at them, and that's when I noticed something peculiar.
My eyes.
My blue eyes were filled with dark grey specs scattered near the black pupil. My eyes were grey, not a dull, unremarkable grey like that of concrete or stone. They were the grey of the last ashes on a fire, tossed up on the breeze; the grey of a pigeon's wing, soft as down; the grey of the ocean an instant before dawn's first rays strike the water. Those mesmerising eyes glanced back at me, captivating me for a second.
The grey in my eyes made me realise that I have discovered parts of myself. The fiery part of myself. Before this, I was just a dull blue but now they were filled with grey, like a wolf's coat, making them more interesting.
I found my image on the mirror going blurry by each passing second, and I realised that my breath was fogging up the glass. Using my finger, I drew a heart shape on the fogged up glass and chuckled.
Walking out of the bathroom, my mind flashed-backed all the moments I have had in my past, and found nothing interesting. Not even a single thing. They gradually went through all the events that had happened after meeting a certain psychopath and I smiled recalling each and every sweet moment of it. I thought of the presents Puddin' had given me and couldn't help but giggle. Those presents are in my apartment. I need to get them back. With a determined look, I grabbed one of his shirts, a dark purple one, with a pair of shorts and a scribbled note for Mr. J, I was out of the place in no time.

"Oo!" I exclaimed as I walked along the living room floor, almost tripping over one of my shoes. I stood there for a while, feeling the place bringing back my old boring memories which I wanted to forget forever and replace them with more fun, new and happy memories.
Placing the 7th box near the door, I walked back to the bedroom to grab more things, to take with me back to the house.
That's when my eyes fell on my baseball bat, the bat I had won during a game. I smiled and picked it up, swinging it around and goofed around with it for awhile, feeling happy. This bat was the only interesting thing that has ever happened in my life. This must definitely come with me.
"You are still good with that bat."
As quick as lightning, I swung the bat around, ready to smash it in the intruder's face when I stopped it right in time, the bat just lightly patting his tan cheek. His eyes widened at what I was about to do, then slowly looked at the bat held strongly in my arms. Recovering slowly from the shock, his eyes ran over my form, looking at my pale skin, my hair and then finally his hazel eyes met my blue-grey ones.
"Harleen?"
I cringed at the name.
"Tom." I said, placing the baseball bat down.
"You could have smashed my face you know." He said and I rolled my eyes, pursing my lips.
"You shouldn't have just walked in the apartment like you own it." I said, and started walking towards the kitchen.
"The front door was wide open!" He exclaimed. "But that is not the point, where have you been? I have been searching for you. I have left you so many texts, so many calls and you never answered th-"
"I lost my phone." I said, throwing my baseball bat into the cardboard boxes and got myself a glass of water.
"Ok then." Tom said. "But that doesn't explain why you look ...different." He said, pointing at my body.
"What happened to you?" Tom asked, he breathed out a sigh, and gave me a concerned look.
I didn't need his concern.
"I am perfectly fine. There is nothing wrong with me. You can go now." I said, sighing with frustration.
"Debby is so worried about you. She said that the last time she heard about you was when you abruptly cut the conversation because yo-"
Confusion etched onto my face and I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Who is Debby?"
