Chapter 8 | Erased

I stopped the car right in front of the small flower shop, which still looked old and rusty. The tires screeched on the grey road, marking its existence. The sound of the screeching echoing through the orange evening. Once the car cooled down, I got out, locked it and walked away towards the shop with desperate determination.

Yanking the door open, I coughed at the amount of dust that flew in the air and looked around the place. The dying flowers were still exactly in the same place and the rose was still dying in its pot.

"Ivy!" I yelled, searching the wall for the secret door and finally found the almost flat knob which could only be visible when you look closely into it. Twisting the door knob, I walked in and was blinded for a second by a white bright light. I froze in my spot, blinking my eyes furiously and the white light went away as my eyes rested on Ivy who was giving me a sweet smile.

"I need your help." I stormed my way towards her and she opened her mouth to say something but I yanked her arm, dragging her away towards the chair, and pushed her towards it, forcing her to sit down.

"You need to me--"

"My memory is gone. I think it was the electroshock therapy that he did on me that made me forget this. You have to help me Ivy! I need it ba--"

"Harleen?"

A sweet familiar voice broke through the sweet-smelling air and I frowned. I looked down at Ivy's lips and her lips were not moving. I didn't know why but that voice suddenly gave me a feeling of comfortness. There was something in the way that she said that caused me to shut up my rambling and stop my desperation.

I slowly turned my head around to meet a girl, with pale blue hair and eyes, a deep blue, the blue was so dark that I couldn't even see her pupils clearly. Her eyes were the colour of a newly bloomed bluebell from the valley, enchanting, delicate. Her eyes were the cool blue of a shark as her eyes widened in shock, watching me in wonder across the silent garden.

Her skin glistened, shined literally like she was a disco ball. The light of the sun radiating of her skin. She looked like Edward Cullen's sister. She had an innocent petite figure.

She walked towards me, her footsteps becoming faster and faster, now almost jogging and her smile becoming wider and wider, with tears glistening in her eyes and in a second, I was in her arms, being engulfed into a tight hug by her.

"Harleen!" She whisper-yelled into my air, her breath too cold causing goosebumps to erupt all over my skin as she hugged me even more tightly. My arms were to my side and I had no idea what to do but I couldn't push her away. She felt way too familiar and comforting.

I could feel her hold loosen on me as she slowly pulled away, her deep blue eyes looking at me with confusion and a lot of worry. Her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion as she studied my face.

"Harleen? What's wrong? Why aren't you hugging me back?"

"Uh." My voice caught in my throat and I gulped.

"This is the part where I come in." Ivy stood up from her chair and held both of our shoulders, pulling us away from each other and looked at both of us with a smug smile.

Of course, she knows everything.

Both of us looked at each other with confusion etched on our faces.

"Harley." Ivy paused, her tone indicating that whatever she was about to say next is going to be huge shock. "Meet your best friend Debby." She pointed towards the girl and my eyes widened as I took her in once again.

"What are you doing? You are introducing me to her? She knows me! I'm her bestfriend."

"I'm afraid ..." Ivy dragged, looking at the gir--Debby with pity. "She doesn't remember you."

"What? Why? Of course she wou--"

"Her memory of you has been erased." Ivy said firmly, as she held onto Debby's shoulders forcing her to stop her rambling. All this while, I looked at Debby and I felt the sharp pain return as I felt it at the back of my mind, it came harder and harder. I tried to think of my memories with her, my eyes tearing up at the pain and I refused to let them down. I could see her eyes fill up with tears as she looked at me with hurt.

I tried and tried, the pain felt like my brain was being torn or being repeatedly beaten with a hammer on the back of my head.

"H-Harleen?" Her voice cracked, trying to hold back her tears as she held out her hand, pointing her fingers in a weird way. It looked like a sign.

Suddenly, I gasped as the sign by her hand awakened memories long forgotten, echoes and whispers of my laughter and a girl's long ago jarred my mind. Flashes of the girl's face filled my mind and it me hard, making me stumble as I struggled to stand. My knees became weak and my vision went blurry. They were vivid and fast, clear edged, bright as a colour print, like photographs. Visions of me holding my hands like that sign together with that girl passed through my mind, burning my head in the process.

The girl's face grew older and older as it slowly turned into the woman standing right infront of me. The pain at the back of my mind increaser and I cried for help, my tears staining my cheeks and my screams filling the air. She had the same features of Debby's face. A memory of me calling her Debby went through my mind and I held my forehead feeling my body go numb as the world around me turned black. I felt hands grabbing me and before I drowned in darkness.
