In the woods, a man and woman argue in a small cabin. The lights go out and the man goes to investigate. Looking out the window the wife sees her husband talking to someone in a hooded sweat suit. The man points up and the familiar's rope whips down from a tree and wraps around the man's neck pulling him off the ground. The hooded figure then points at the cabin. The man's body is thrown through the glass and lands on the table. It is quickly pulled outside again and the familiar crawls in through the broken window. It approaches the terrified woman but seeing that she is pregnant pulls away and leaves.

In the Detective's office, Dakota and Eli are talking to RJ on speakerphone. RJ says that Katy probably knows that someone is controlling her. They speculate that she simply cannot control her actions or disobey an order given by her master.

In flashbacks, Katy is sitting on her bed at home arms covered in blood, in the shower washing off the blood and then back in bed on what appears to be the night of the full moon. A gloved hand reaches out for Steph's camera and the scene switches back to the present. They plan to try to explain to Katy that she is being controlled and elicit her help in figuring out who the master might be.

Detective Thompson reads out the details of the restraining order Katy secured against Dakota and Eli. They are to stay 50 feet away from her at all times. They cannot speak to her or assault or harass her physically or psychologically. Dakota's father and Katy's Father are in the room as the order is read.

Once he gets the kids alone, the detective points out how lucky they are that Katy isn't pressing charges. Eli tries to play it as though stealing the police van and locking Katy inside was some sort of elaborate joke.

Dakota's father is equally upset. He says the restraining order is just the latest in a long line of concerning issues including Dakota's increasingly bizarre behavior, late nights and having to beg Mr. Happy to let her make up the exam. He grounds her from all activities except for work and school. He also says she can't hang out with Eli and tries to take away her car keys but becomes too upset to get the car key off the key ring.

Dakota seems ready to tell him what's really going on. Eli is freaking out that she shouldn't tell and then Mr. Preston suggests Dakota's issues may have something to do with her mother and she goes along with that excuse. He says they'll discuss it more at home.

Katy is sitting on a bench in the detective's Office still wearing the pants Eli dressed her in and the borrowed deputy's coat suggesting that she's been there the whole time.

In Lockwood's lair, Wong asks why the pack needs Dakota's help in dealing with the familiar. Lockwood says it's harder to kill than he thought and claims he's not even sure who it is. He sends Eric to get the information from either Dakota or Eli.

Wong then complains that Lockwood had promised to teach them to shift into werewolf form at will. Lockwood says there hasn't been time. He then produces large chains and metal collars. Wong complains that if Lockwood locks them up during the full moon then he'll be all alone if the shaman come. Wong then suggests that they forget the familiar but Lockwood says they can't because there was something in the way Luca looked at it suggests that he knows something and is planning something. Lockwood says they have to find it first.

In the school library, RJ goes to great lengths to secretly talk to Dakota and Eli. They stand on opposite sides of a book shelf and he passes a Tablet through the books. On it, the translated text from the bestiary.

"Like all supernatural, its power is greatest at the moon's peak. Like the wolf, the familiar is a social creature but where the wolf seeks a pack the familiar seeks a master. The familiar, can be a weapon of vengeance, is used to carry out the bidding of its master. The familiar was once used by a North American priest who used them are aids in their mixing of medicines. The bond between master and servant grew stronger until the will of the master became that of the familiar's and whomever the priest deemed unworthy, the familiar served his vengeance. The familiar is a spirit that does not know it has passed on and will remain until it gains this knowledge."
