Chapter 2: Catching the Scent

Wong and his father get into a fight over the young man's grades. It becomes violent with Mr. Lee throwing dishes and plates around. One of the glass pitchers crashes into the wall above Wong's head cutting his cheek. When he stands up his face begins to heal and his father is perplexed. Wong runs away. His father follows and finds his bike out in the rain. Mr. Lee is attacked and killed by an unknown creature.

Dakota and RJ have a clandestine meeting in the woods while Mr. Preston and Mrs. Thompson are on "Date Nights." The parents are actually busy kidnapping and torturing SDCI's principal.

At school the next day, Dakota smells a werewolf outside the locker room and attempts to figure out which of her teammates has been turned by smelling each of them on the basketball court. She figures out that it is Wong just before Detective Thompson arrives to inform the teen that his father is dead.

Dakota and Eli purposely get themselves in trouble so they can go to the principal's office to hear Marco's statement to the detective. Marco confirms that Wong was being beaten regularly by his father. Once the authorities leave they learn that Lockwood has taken the principal's place.

Wong is taken to jail. Dianna shows up and asks Dakota to help her break him out. First though they go to Wong's house and find evidence that his dad's abuse included locking him in a freezer chest.

RJ witnesses his mother and Mr. Preston planning to kill Wong. He tells Eli that one of the shaman, dressed as a deputy, left the house with a box marked with a nightshade. RJ manages to slow down the assassin by shooting his tires and his leg with his gun.

Dianna and Eli attempt to free Wong but the shaman is already there. When they reach the holding cell, they find it empty. Wong takes out the shaman then turns on Eli until Lockwood appears and growls him into submission with his alpha powers.

RJ finds Dakota in Wong's basement. He brings chains to keep her under control while the curse acts up. He locks her in the freezer. As he is leaving, RJ is attacked by an unidentified human-sized transparent creature. Hearing that RJ is in danger, Dakota manages to bust out of the freezer and come to help him. The invisible creature escapes.

Marco filmed a neighbours all night long during the full moon expecting to catch her transformation into a werewolf on video but instead got several hours of footage of her, very much still a human, sleeping.
