Water, water getting hotter running down my pallor skin.
Bruises, tears everywhere, need to heal again.
Hunger, exhaustion, scattered thoughts that need to run together.
I need to heal soon, I need to get better, or I will stay this way forever.
To occupy my time here—besides planning escape routes—I find myself putting together little rhyming verses. Maybe it is a sign that I am losing my mind, maybe it is a sign that I miss the Amity farms, or maybe it is a sign that I need more things to occupy my time. Maybe it's all three.
Because they are all true. It has been three days since I last saw Marco. I know this now because he gave me a watch—that tells the time and date—when he told me about his Choosing Ceremony. How am I going to gain his trust when I can't talk to or see him? I am trying to play a game with him and he doesn't seem to understand the rules.
He would not tell me anything about after he choose Dauntless. I suppose he means to tell his story in bits and pieces. His is a very basic, very common story that we all know. A sixteen-year-o[d has to choose between taking his or her own path and staying with their family. Except. . .
Except Marco is Divergent which puts a not-so-common twist on the story.
That very fact is what puts doubts in my head about Marco's story. He is allied with the very people trying to destroy the only people who might understand and protect him.
I have come to this conclusion. He is either a) lying, b) truly disturbed, or c) doesn't realize what he is doing. It is least likely the later.
I think Tobias may be right, just this once, that maybe I should deal with the situation at hand—which is getting out—and worry about solving mysterious lies later.
But the problem is, I have no idea where to start. With Marco nowhere to be seen my plan will not proceed like I planned and that is a huge dilemma. I can only hope to hurry things along before Jeanine decides I am well enough to begin testing again.
