"Hey there," He said, with his usual award winning smile on his face. He had a cute smile, but the smugness behind it bugged me a lot.
"Hi," I said quietly, faking a small smile. I'm going to keep the act up of how I don't know him; maybe he'll start ignoring me. That would be a good thing; I wouldn't have to talk to him. He's popular, and I'm not, we don't mix. So let's start off by apologizing, "Sorry about earlier at the locker, I wasn't in a really good mood, but thanks for the help."
He laughed, "Finally admitting you needed my help, huh?"
I tried my best to hold back my eye roll, "I guess..."
He flipped his red hair out of his eyes, and then looked back at me. "So new girl, what's your name?"
"I'm Kathryn," I told him, trying my best to sound as nice as I could ever be. I really hope it wasn't shown on my face that I hated every single bit of this conversation, because then I would probably not make him ignore me. Does that work though? Being nice to someone doesn't make them go away, ugh, what am I thinking? But I can't just drop the act; I'll just see what happens. I really hope I figure it out somehow. "What's your name?"
"Hot name Kathy," He commented with a wink. Winking is really weird, but somehow he makes it work, cool. "And you seriously don't know who I am?"
I shook my head, "No, not really. I'm new here, remember?"
He chuckled, making his hair flop back into his face. It was kind of curly-ish, but not too curly, just a little bit. It hung to the side of his face, blocking his eyes that looked hazel brown/green. "So you're saying Mandy stopped talking about me over and over and over and over and over -"
"Okay, I get your point." I stopped him, noticing he'd probably go on and never stop. I can get the exaggeration, but he didn't need to act like a little baby about it. "I'll guess you're Josh then...?"
He smirked, "Good job Kathy,"
"Thanks," I chirped sarcastically, rolling my eyes after. "So what do you want? And did you purposely make all my friends go away?"
He laughed again, but didn't bother to fix his hair when it fell into his face this time, "Maybe I did,"
"Why?" I asked him. "And how?"
"Which question is it?" He asked, with the same smirk playing across his face. He is too cocky for a human being, and I cannot stand it one bit.
"Both of them," I told him, still trying to be as nice as possible. Okay, it's kind of obvious now that being nice to him isn't working, because he is still here. But being rude to him isn't any different; he just acts the same way. When he was helping me at the locker and I was rude to him then, he just smirked and enjoyed it. Boys are so confusing sometimes, I swear. My brother Kendrick is too; he says he needs "guy time" yet he's always with girls. Like, make up your mind for God's sake!
"Well, I got rid of them because I wanted to talk to you alone." He answered, still smirking. Gosh, can you make a serious face for one second!? "And I got Dustin to get rid of Amanda, since she is hopelessly in love with him - which is why she acts like she likes me, since it's completely natural. And Jason just happened to be friends with my friends, so I got him to get him to play football." He explained it all to me. "Got it?" He asked me, as if he was giving me some rules or something I had to follow.
I rest my elbow on the table and my head in my palm, looking at him with a smile on my face. "And why would you want me alone, Josh?"
He copied my action, fixing his elbow on the table and facing me, "I find you interesting,"
