Liam was swinging their hands as they walked down the street.
Violet didn't want to make him drive her anywhere, so she just asked if he'd talk a walk with her. She didn't even know where they were at the moment; she wasn't familiar with this neighbourhood. But, Liam said he knew the area, so she let him guide the two of them.
Liam couldn't quite believe that she was actually holding his hand. He never would have thought she would let her guard down enough to do something like it, but here she was, letting him swing their entwined hands back and forth.
"Y'know, Violet, I'd really like to get to know you better." Liam said, glancing down at her. The tip of her nose and her cheeks were flushed pink, the cold air nipping at her skin.
If it were any other boy but Liam that had said this to her, she would have found it suggestive and rude. But, she knew he was serious. "Well, what would you like to know?"
Liam smiled. She was letting some walls down. "What's your favourite colour?"
"Red."
"When's your birthday?"
"January third."
"What's your middle name?"
"Louise."
"That's a nice middle name." Liam noted. "Do you have any siblings?"
"One older brother. He's called Mark."
"How is it to have a brother? Is it fun?" Liam asked and Violet shrugged.
"It's... I don't really know." Violet thought, trying to evaluate the relationship she had with her brother. "We're not really that close. We used to be, but when my parents divorced when I was eleven, he wanted to live with my dad and I stayed with my mum." She didn't know why she was telling this to Liam, but she knew he was listening. "I don't see him much. He's engaged now."
"How do you like his fiancée?" Liam asked. He loved that he was getting to know about her life and her family.
"She's lovely." Violet told him, nodding. "My mum is crazy about her, she thinks she's perfect."
Liam laughed and wondered how his own mother would react when he was engaged.
"What about you?" Violet asked, looking up at him.
"Me?" Liam's eyebrows pulled together.
"Yeah. I want to know about you." Violet smiled, the streetlights making her face glow. "What's your favourite colour?"
"Blue."
"Birthday?"
"August twenty-ninth."
"A summer birthday? Must be nice." Violet snorted.
"Not really, it usually rains." Liam shrugged. "At least on your birthday there will be snow and everything looks pretty."
"It barely ever snows on my birthday! Nothing is pretty on January third." Violet said. It really didn't snow all that much.
"Except you, of course." Liam said cheekily.
"Oh, shut up." Violet shoved his shoulder with her free hand lightly. She wasn't sure whether he was serious or not, so she tried to keep it playful. She thought that's what Elizabeth would do.
At this point, as the two of them walked down the dimly lit street hand-in-hand, there was no denying Violet was attracted to Liam. He was such a gentleman, always so nice to her. She'd never really had much male attention before because she never put herself out there, but now that she was actually seeing Liam a few times a week and having actual conversations with him, she was more comfortable being around him.
