There wasn't a minute for the rest of the night that Liam and Violet weren't in contact.
Violet didn't think about it after a while. She stopped trying to analyze things and just held his hand. Liam could sense her relax in his presence, which kept a smile on his face.
Even as he drove her home, his palm rested on her knee during the drive. Violet had shivered when he made the gesture, not sure if it was qualified as 'making a move'. But once she made herself stop overthinking it, his touch warmed her. She was glad that he was with her.
She couldn't help but wonder if Liam had much experience with girls. She figured he already knew she was nosey, so she might as well ask.
"How many girlfriends have you had?" Violet asked, out of the blue, Liam thought.
He couldn't help but let out a quiet chuckle. "Three." He answered, and Violet thought that was a fine number. "None were serious, though."
"What were their names?" Violet asked another nosey question.
"Why do you care?" Liam laughed.
"Because I'm sure you really liked them." Violet said thoughtfully.
"If you really want to know, their names were Jeanette, Lacey, and Alyssa." Liam answered, remembering each of the girls.
"Were they pretty?" Violet wondered aloud. She didn't need to hear his answer to know they were.
"Yes." He said. "But they don't quite compare to you." He added, because it was true. Violet just had something different that the previous girls in his life lacked severely.
Violet smiled in the dark of his car, sneaking a glance up at him. Liam held a content smile on his face as his eyes stayed on the road, one hand on the wheel.
When she thought about it, Violet realized she no longer felt like an awkward little girl around him, but instead she was almost confident. How couldn't she be? He was so generous towards her with his little compliments, and they way he would look at her.
"Why did you break up with them?" She asked yet another question.
"Um," Liam bit his bottom lip as he tried to remember. Truth be told, he couldn't remember because none of his relationships had been all that important to him. "Two of them broke up with me." He recalled, nodding. "I broke up with the last one because she cheated on me." His eyebrows furrowed as he remembered the experience.
Violet frowned. How could anyone cheat on someone as wonderful as Liam? What could anyone else have that he didn't? She placed her hand on top of his hand that rested on her knee. She rubbed the pad of her thumb gently over the top of his hand. Violet hoped her question hadn't made him sad, she felt guilty for asking him now.
"I'm sorry." She said, looking at him with soft eyes. "I didn't mean to bring it up like that."
"Don't worry about it, love." He assured her, turning onto the street where her residence was. "I'm over it."
"Well, if it means anything, I think she was incredibly daft." Violet declared, and Liam glanced at her quickly with a smile. "She must have been mad to do something as terrible as that to someone as incredible as you."
"I'm glad you think so." Liam said. Her words warmed his heart. She thought he was incredible. Incredible, he thought, hm.
"Well, this is my stop." Violet said reluctantly. She actually wished she could stay with Liam longer. She was in such a good mood, because of him.
"I'll walk you?" Liam suggested. The walk from his car to her dorm would be quick, but it would be time with her nonetheless.
Violet nodded, holding back her smile. She's never felt this before... She couldn't even describe what it was, but she bet it had something to do with Liam and the way he looked at her.
