little moments

"No, you're doing it wrong!" Zayn groaned at Violet and Liam laughed. Zayn was trying to teach Violet how to sketch, and apparently she was not doing very well.

"I'm hopeless!" Violet whined, setting the pencil down on the scribbled-over paper. She pouted and rested her chin in her hands.

"You were doing great, babe." Liam reassured her with a smile.

"I'm going to throw up." Zayn declared, dragging the palms of his hands down his face.

Things had been going extremely well for Violet in the past month. She and Liam were on fantastic terms, her brother talked to her nearly every day, she was ahead on everything in all of her classes, and she still managed to find time to hang out with Lizzie when she found herself needing a little girl time.

For the first time in her life, Violet had an actual life. She found herself excited when she woke up in the morning for what the day would bring her, she had a genuine smile on her face throughout the day, and she was even socializing more.

The change was welcome - strange, but welcome.

Violet always found herself thinking of Liam. If he wasn't with her, she was wishing that he was. Images of his bright brown eyes danced in her head until all she could see was him. She wasn't exactly sure what it all meant; this feeling was completely new to her. She didn't have a problem with it, though.

Liam had made Violet one of the most important aspects of her life. He had talked to his sister on the phone about her for at least a good hour, and even his mother wanted to know more about the girl that had her little boy wrapped around her finger.

In fact, Liam was planning on introducing Violet to his friends tomorrow. He had told her that they were going to brunch, but had left out the small detail, wanting to surprise her.

But, of course Liam wanted to introduce her to them as his girlfriend. So that was his current predicament. How in the hell was he meant to ask her to be his girlfriend? Usually he wasn't nervous when it came to girls - well, at least not this nervous.

He watched Violet tip her head back and giggle at a cynical comment Zayn had made. Everything about her made Liam smile. It was ridiculous. The way her hair fell down her shoulders, her pretty pink lips and flushed cheeks, her always-bright smile, how she could find a deeper aspect to the simplest things, how she was sweet to everyone - even people who were snarky and sarcastic (like Zayn). He just admired and adored everything about her.

Liam wasn't even fully aware of how deep his feelings for this girl were. He knew she was different, but he didn't know that he was different because of her. Liam took joy out of the smallest of things and did everything with care. He just smiled more in general.

By the time Liam had dropped Violet off at her dorm so she could finish an assignment an hour later, he was pretty sure he had thought up the perfect way to ask her to be his girlfriend.

"Tonight?" Violet asked confusedly when Liam had called her around eight saying he wanted to take her out.

"Yeah. 'Bout an hour?" He suggested.

"Um, sure." Violet said slowly. "Yeah, okay." She was smiling now.

"Great!" Liam was grinning widely on his end of the phone, trying to ignore Zayn who was making mouthing obscene things to him. "So I will see you at nine."

"You'll see me at nine." Violet confirmed, biting her lip at his tone of voice. He sounded excited.

"Bye baby,"

Violet reckoned her heart might flutter straight out of her chest. He had never called her baby before, but now she hoped he always would.

"Bye," Violet replied, her voice sounding airy because Liam had her so flustered.
