Just Forget Our Problems

I spent the rest of the day in my room-doctor's orders. Dan, being the angel he is, stayed with me while I was there. We continued watching Attack On Titan, and Dan would bring us food from the cafeteria three times a day. We would've cuddled, but Doctor Brown said to not let any pressure be put on my chest. This meant that I had to lay on my back 24 hours a day. Bed pans were now my new method of relief. Not enjoyable. Just saying. After a week, Doctor Brown came into my room to wheel me into the operating room to see if I've healed. He still hadn't said what happened after I ran. Oh well. As long as I'm healthy. After a few x-rays, he said I was free to start moving again. However, being motionless for one week means that you're not used to walking. Thankfully, Dan was there with me. "Ok, Dan. I'll need you to be Phil's crutch, since he's going to start walking again." "Ok. Doable." He crouched down, under my right arm. I wrapped my arm across his back. He put one arm on my back, and the other held my hand. I shakily stood up, almost falling back down. Dan thankfully hoisted me back up, and helped me gingerly walk out of the room after saying our thanks and goodbyes to Doctor Brown. We slowly made our way out of the operating room, and into the main waiting room of the hospital. I haven't been here since I first came. Most of my time has been spent in the adults' housing wing. I looked over at Dan. He was smiling at me as I took my first few steps in a week. Not long after we made eye contact did he lean over and lightly kiss my cheek. I blushed and giggled like a little girl. We heard someone say, "Aw." And we turned around to see a 10 year old girl smiling at us. "Hello! I'm Lindsay. I just wanted to say that you two are cute. Are you dating?" "No." I said. "No? Why not?" We looked at each other. "I don't frankly know. You might've given us an idea, Lindsay." I said. "Aw. Ok. Well, my mum is waiting for my medication." "Lindsay! Let's go!" "Oops. Sorry. Got to go. Goodbye you two!" We chorused our goodbyes as she and her mum left. "She was so nice!" "And cute. Speaking of which, when we get back to a quiet spot, I need to talk to you." Dan smiled as he said that to me. My smile grew as we turned around and kept walking. We walked around the main room, and back into the adults' wing. The computer room was occupied by about 5 different adults, so we went down the hall, and managed to find a little courtyard. Out there, we found a bench a little bit away from the entrance, and we sat down. I was pretty much breathless from walking, but the light dusting of snow on the ground helped cool me off. I turned and looked at Dan. He was looking around the silent courtyard. It seemed almost magical outside. The quietness combined with the snow and slowly fading light made the atmosphere so wonderful...so amazing. Dan moved his hand a bit and liked our pinky fingers together. We sat there, not talking or looking at each other, but looking out across the snow while linking our pinkies. As the light continued to fade, I started shivering. Dan stood up and grabbed my hand, pulling me up. We silently walked back indoors. It was a good silence; nothing was forced; nothing had to be said. We made our way back down the hall, and passed by the lounge area. "Hey, Phil? Wanna go grab dinner and then play 5 Nights At Freddy's?" I smiled at him. "It's a date." He lightly blushed as we walked towards the cafeteria, still holding hands. After a quick soup dinner that might've involved us feeding each other spoonfuls of soup, we walked hand-in-hand to the lounge area. It was empty, thankfully, and we claimed one of the computers. He got us onto the website, and a static-y background with a creepy looking bear popped up. "This screen is already scary." I said. "It's like the bear from Toy Story 3 after his drug incident." We then proceeded to start a new game. After reading the "Help Wanted" screen to get a sense of what was happening, we were directed to a cramped room with cameras, doors, and lights we could toggle. The sound of a ringing phone came on as we explored the cameras. There was a duck. With teeth. Why does the duck have teeth?????? This game is so freaky. We mostly ignored the pre-recorded phone message until we heard the guy say that the animatronics were left to free roam at night. I was now very concerned with this game. We flipped down the cameras to test the hall lights and doors, and unfortunately, heard the guy say that the animatronics would stuff us into an animatronic exo-skeleton and ultimately kill us. Worse than that, he then explained about our limited amount of power, which we now had 61% of at 2am. "Phil, we've got 61% power left! Oh now he tells us!" Dan was indeed starting to slowly freak out. "We need to conserve power. Great." As Dan was criticizing the digital cobwebs and dust around the game, I continued flipping through the cameras, hoping that no animatronics would kill us. I moved to camera 5, the backstage. There was an ominous figure standing dead center of the room. "Was that there before?" I asked Dan. He didn't know either, and so for a few seconds, we stared at the colorless figure staring back at us. We could see his eyes. I didn't like his eyes. Dan then started urging me to go to camera 6, the kitchen. It said, "Camera Disabled. Audio Only." Dan started nope-ing after he read the sign. "What's that sound?" We sat quietly and listened. "It's the sound of me nope-ing." We jumped as one of the speakers that was linked to our computer fell over. "That was the speaker falling over. Calm down." Dan said to me, but in reality, he said it to the both of us. We continued looking through the cameras until we clicked on camera 7, restrooms, and saw a duck wearing a bib that said "Let's Eat!" staring murderously at us. Dan scream and I jumped back as the dark-yellow figure appeared before us on the viewfinder. Dan then blamed the fact that he was there on me because I complained that it had teeth. We flipped through the cameras again only to not have any visuals. Once they came back on, we looked into the west hall to find an outline of one of the animatronics standing there. The cameras didn't show anything once again as we panned through them. After a few minutes, power went out. An image of something and the words "Time to Die" appeared for a split second on our screen as we sat there in the dark. Freddy's glowing face appeared at the door and music started softly playing, but after only one second of that, church bells chimed 6am on the game. We were saved. Our second night went similarly to that. After being in night three for a few minutes, Dan decided to start complaining about the quality of the cameras the game used. All of a sudden, the camera view screen was forced down and a purple bunny attacked our screen. We both screamed and jumped back as the animatronic buzzed and snapped at us. I stayed in my chair, but Dan leapt so far back that his chair fell over backwards. I closed out the game and turned around to look down at him lying there. He just looked back at me as he started blushing like crazy. "Dan? You need help back up?" "I'M FINE!" He reluctantly got back up. "I dunno about you, but how about we call it a night?" I agreed with him and we left the room. We walked once again down the hall towards our rooms. Once we had to split ways, Dan and I waved goodbye to each other. Right before I went into my room, I heard Dan running back to me. Turning around, I saw Dan panting beside me. "Phil. I. *Pant* Forgot to ask you something..." "Yea?" "Will you be my boyfriend?" A huge grin made its way onto my face as Dan, panting like a dog, eagerly awaited my response. "Yes!" He pulled me into a hug and we remained there for several seconds in a tight embrace. We then parted ways afterwards.
