I sat on the sofa, adjusting my legs, trying to find a causal pose, but nothing I did was casual. Letting out a sigh I checked me phone, my dad should be getting home soon. Nervously chewing on my nails i repeatedly checked my phone every minute. 4:30.
4:31
4:31.
4:32.
4:32.
4:33

Soon I got up and grabbed some orange juice and poured myself a glass. I don't even know what I was going to say, I tried to rehearse but found that only was making me more nervous.

I perked up the second I hear the door creak open and shuffling. "Ellis I'm home! I grabbed some Chinese!" Frozen at the sound of my dads voice I panicked, turning from one side to the other trying to look natural. Eventually I sat down at the counter and I grabbed my phone to open Instagram frantically.

"Hey dad I'm in the kitchen" I call out. Turning  i watched my dad heading my way with bags of Chinese take out. he set everything on the counter and started taking things out of the bag.

"I'm sorry honey I just didn't feel like cooking" he laughed as he grabbed a beer out of the fridge and loosens his tie.

"it's okay dad Chinese is amazing!" I say forcing a smile. I grabbed some orange chicken and rice along with some chopsticks begining to eat.

My dad with his mouth full asks "so what did you do today" I look up to see him staring back at me.

"Uh- Nothing really, just did some homework" I checked my phone desperately hoping to see any notification to open making this less awkward. But to my luck there was nothing.

It was silent as we ate and I decided now is the time. "Hey dad, I've always been a great student. I've gotten mostly A- and As wouldn't you agree?" I stared down at my food feeling his eyes look up at me.

"Yeah I guess so" he says laughing a bit.

"Well... I wanted to know since I take college courses, if I could finish my studies online." I continue to look down and play with my food. I heard him take a drink and set it down.

"Well I guess if you think that's what you want, but why?" He placed his hands on the counter waiting for my response.

"Well I met someone... and they want me to live with them..." I hear my dad set down his chopsticks.

"Excuse me? Who is this 'someone'?" looking up seeing absolutely no expression on his face.

"Well it's a long story..." fading out my last words.

"I'm sure I have time" he says firmly.

"Well it started when I met this guy named Henry, and he was new to my school, we started to hang out until one day he told me his name isn't Henry it's Tom Holland, he doesn't really go to my school, he's twenty, he actually is from the UK and he's an actor, he came to my school to study for a role as Peter Paker aka Spider-Man and to learn what high school is like now a days in America  since his character will be in high school."

There was silence for what seemed like ages. And my heart raced, my palms beginning to get sweaty. Finally I looked up and my dad shifted his eyes off of me and looked down at the counter "you're telling me you've been hanging out with a Hollywood star, whose two years older than you and you want to go live with him? ...Are you insane?" He looked back up at me.

"Dad-" I pause " I know it sounds crazy but you have to trust me. I'm practically an adult, and I've been accepted to UND and they offer online courses. You I wanted to fulfill my dreams of traveling, what better way to do that than you be with someone whose in that business. plus he's super responsible and isn't a creep at all...You know I wouldn't just run off with a guy unless I felt in my heart i was 100% sure" glancing back at him and I searched in his eyes for his answer.

"Ellis... I know who he is, he starred in that movie with Chris Hemsworth, and it's super cool that my daughter is hanging out with a star, and I don't doubt your opinion, and I know you are responsible and you were going to move anyways, but..." he let out a sigh "I'm not saying yes... however I'm not saying no either" my dad throws away his trash "I'd like to meet this boy" he says finally smiling and starts to head up stairs.

He stopped and looked back. "Ellis tell me, if Tom wasn't an actor if he wasn't so successful, hell, if he was living on the streets, would you still care for him? The way you do now?" I waited a little bit and I thought about what he said, I never ever wanted to be known as a gold digger and I wanted to make sure I liked Tom for who is was as a person.

I reconnect my eyes with his, "Dad I liked him before he ever told me his true identity" my dad smiles and nods continuing upstairs.
