The Beach Day

(Fast forward about two weeks)

Nora had been having a blast working with the guys. They were all so easy to get along with and fun to be around. They had been doing some really good brainstorming and even laid down some vocal tracks in the studio. Things were going better than Nora could have ever dreamed.

There was just one teeny, tiny issue. Even though she promised herself she would focus 100% on the music, she and Matt had developed a habit of staying up late, drinking, jamming and playing video games. She felt like she was enjoying those times a little too much. Considering she was staying in a guest house on his property that could present an issue...

But she brushed those thoughts aside, she was just being dramatic as usual. He obviously didn't want anything to do with her like that, he was just bored and kind of lonely since his divorce. He said so himself, he liked having someone to hang out with at night. Nora was the same, nights were always the hardest. Besides, did she really want to get involved with a divorced guy almost ten years older than her?

Today was a day of meetings for the guys so Nora decided to call an Uber and head to the beach. It was a beautiful day to lounge by the shore and soak up some sunshine. Maybe she'd try to find James and her mom some nice gifts. 

When she got to the beach, it was incredibly crowded. Like, couldn't even find a spot to lay her towel out crowded so she headed to a bar across the street. Imagine her surprise when she saw Matt sitting in the corner by himself with his sunglasses on.

"Should I go over there?", Nora thought, "or maybe he wants to be alone."

She went up to the bar to order a beer when she heard someone call her name. She turned to Matt and he was smiling at her so she went over and sat beside him.

"What are you doing here? Meetings out early?" Nora asked.

"Yeah, meetings were over and there were some press things scheduled but I skipped it." Matt answered.

Nora thought for a moment, she saw there was something up with him so she decided to ask about it.

"Are you okay? I mean of course you don't have to answer that but if you wanna talk I'm here to listen."

"My lawyer called today, apparently my ex is wanting an increase in alimony so I have another court date next month. I really dread that kind of shit." Matt said. "But enough about all of that, I really just want to forget about it and clear my head tonight. Speaking of, I was thinking of stopping by the dispensary." Matt said as he winked at Nora.

She got butterflies in her stomach but quickly put a damper on it. "Yeah that actually sounds awesome. I would smoke all the time to help my anxiety back in Tennessee but we sure as hell don't have dispensaries there." Nora said laughing.

Between the look in Matt's eyes and the feeling in her gut she couldn't help but feel like something crazy was going to happen tonight.
