"Baby..." A very deep voice whispered. I felt his warm and soft touch on my cheek as he called for me again, "Babygirl, wake up." I opened my eyes slowly, realizing that it was George. I rested my head on his hand as I smiled. "Finally, you're awake." He said before kissing me softly on the lips."W-What time is it?"
"9:05 in the morning. You've been sleeping since yesterday afternoon. Like before 5 o' clock."
I couldn't remember a lot of when I got to the hospital because I was drugged up most of the time with pain killers. I looked at George upset. "What about my back? Are my lungs alright? Am I suffering any bad injury?"
"No, my love. You just have a big bruise on your back. Your lungs, miraculously, were not injured and you have no bones fractured. I would've let you sleep more but I signed the papers that lets you leave the hospital. We leave like in an hour." He answered with a wide smile on his face. I let out a sigh of relief and held his hand.
---
"Thank you for everything." I say to the nurse as George helps me get up from the wheelchair. She smiles, nods and heads back in when she made sure that I was in the car, safe and sound. As we pulled out of the parking lot I asked him quietly, "Where to now, mister?" He giggled as he held my hand firmly.
"To where we first met, Miss Gates." He answered, eyes still on the road. I found it weird how he'd want to go now. I mean, I really just came out of the hospital. Maybe he just wanted to talk over a cup of coffee or two. I close my eyes, trying to at least rest for thirty minutes. The last thing I heard before falling asleep was the soft music coming from the radio.
---
"We're here, honey." Joji said quietly as he tried to wake me up with warm kisses around my face. I smiled and blushed at him. "I see you're finally awake, my cute tomato.""Shut up, fucker." He snorted and got out of the car, walking towards my door.
"Get out, potty mouth." He said after opening the passenger door. I held his hand as support while I got out of the car. George closed the door and walked towards the coffee shop, our hands still intertwined.
He told to me to pick a seat while he ordered our coffee. Business today was calm, not full like other times. There was no line and the usual group of hipsters weren't sitting at the same table near the bathroom. I stared out the window, watching cars drive by.
After a few minutes of waiting, George came back with a simple coffee for him, a cappuccino for me, and my favorite pastry to go with it. "Thanks, sweetie. You even got macaroons!" Suddenly, the song was cut off by another one which sounded familiar. The soft of the guitars made it sound romantic.
I think that possibly, maybe I'm falling for you.
"Landon Pigg!"
Yes there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you.
"Sarah Gates," he called me, staring at me with heart eyes and grabbing my hand softly, "I know we met back in August and it hasn't been too long, but I just want to tell you how much you really mean to me."
I've seen the paths that your eyes wander down, I want to come too.
"George..." I smiled at him, allowing him to confess his lovely words to me.
"You made me realize how you can just meet someone and instantly fall in love with them, even if you know jack shit about that person. And now, Sarah Gates, I don't want to let you go. You've brought happiness into my life ever since I moved here. So," he grabs both of my hands and looks me in the eyes, "Will you stay with me? Will you be my girlfriend?"
I think that possibly, maybe I'm falling for you...
"Y-yes!" I teared up and answered a little bit loud. He smiled widely and got close to me. And with that, we licked lips. His warm ones with my cold ones. The song, which was one of my favorites, kept playing in the background. When we parted lips I giggled and asked out of curiosity, "Did you ask them to put my favorite coffee shop song... at a coffee shop?" He nodded and I laughed hysterically. "You really are something, Joji. And that's why I love you so much."
No one understands me quite like you do, through all of the shadowy corners of me...
