Life has been going great. I was promoted at my job, classes are getting easier for me, new friends, and the best boyfriend in the world. I've never been more happier than now. I guess it was a good idea of moving away from Florida.I was minding my own business in English when my friend, Martha, called me over to watch a video. We weren't doing much today, so I figured "Why not?" I went over to her desk and asked,
"What is it about?"
"Some guys dancing to a song. It's a new viral video from yesterday." She answered as she searched for the video.
In the video, there's four guys dressed up in suits. One is a red power ranger, the one on the far right has a grey alien suit, the one on the left has a black suit with a long v-neck and a weird mask, and the one in front has a pink suit. The video starts with them thrusting non-stop. Once the song said "Do the Harlem Shake," they do idiotic dance steps.
As everyone laughed at the video, I stood there trying to think why the guy in the pink suit looked so familiar. I look around the background and notice many familiar things. I came to the realization that I'm watching my boyfriend dance childishly to an annoying song that went completely viral overnight. After the video finished, I asked Martha what's the channel's name.
"DizastaMusic. Why?"
"I want to see if their content is any better than this." I pointed out. I said thanks and went back to my desk.
I was searching through what seems like Joji's channel and there was many many videos before this one. I watched a few of them, like "Filthy Frank Goes To College," "Asians Piss Me Off," and "Filthy Shit." I won't lie, his offensive humor made me laugh. However, I don't understand why he would keep these gems away from me. And why the name Filthy Frank? Why not use his real name? Suddenly, the video was interrupted by a call from George.
"Baby!" I spoke softly.
"Hey, sweetie. Wanna go have lunch today?" He asked. I said that I'd love to and that I'll let him know when I'm finally out on break. We said our goodbyes and hung up.
---
"I'll have a Cubano sandwich, please." I was ordering my lunch while George thought of what to eat. We picked our favorite deli in town "Greta's Deli." We've come here too many times but their food is good, apart from the decoration.
After we got our orders, we went to the cushioned seats near the windows on the side of the restaurant. I let him speak about his day and his friends. I told him that I needed to ask him something, but that I hope he wouldn't get mad.
"Ask me anything, babe. I won't get mad at you." He answered sweetly. I took a deep breath and asked,
"Do you have a channel on YouTube?" He put his sandwich down and looked at me nervously. His face completely changed.
"Uh, I-" George didn't know how to answer. "Y-Yes, I do how did you find out?" He seemed upset.
"One of your videos went viral overnight."
"What? The Harlem Shake one?" He asked. I nodded. "But that video was so shitty!" After a few quiet seconds, he looks at me and asks, "Please tell me you didn't watch anything else."
I giggled. "I did, Filthy Frank." I whispered into his ear. He looked defeated, digging his face onto his hands. "Why are you so worried? I found them funny."
"I wanted to keep those characters away from you. The whole channel, actually."
"Why, though? I loved them!" I asked before taking a big bite off of my sandwich.
He explained to me that he was nervous that he'd lose me because of that "Persona."He's been doing this for years now, way before he even graduated from High School. I asked him about the really old ones. The ones before the two year gap. George said that those were all of his friends and him having a good time in middle school. Even Lake was in those old videos. I let him speak about his channel, telling me about why he started it and why he chose "Filthy Frank." I guess he was just one of those edgy kids that would tell you to fuck off if you didn't believe that Bush had done 9/11. "We all have dark pasts," I thought.
"Babe, you don't have to be embarrassed about your channel. I love it and will support you. You better keep on posting more 'Filthy Shit' there." I cringed at my own shitty pun but he just laughed at my effort.
"Thank you, honey. This is why I chose you. Because you will always love me unconditionally." He kissed me on the cheek and sat in silence for a while. After taken a huge bite from his sandwich, he spoke, "Now, I have to think how I'm going to scare all the 'normies' away from my channel."
