In The End; I Lost It All
Chapter 15: Back In the Studio; Having Stomach Flus, or something else?
(Jake's POV)
It's been a full year since we've returned home from our honeymoon, and life couldn't be better in my opinion. Avril and I have been married just a little over a year, my band is back in the studio making new music, and life is absolute perfection. The kids absolutely adore her as their new mother, and she spoils them all rotten. I love my family and I wouldn't change a single moment I've had with them all, including my beloved Avril. I'm grateful I was given a second chance with love and found my soulmate.
Little did I know that things were about to get even more hectic.
(Avril's POV)
It's been just a little over a year since Jake and I were married in Hawaii. We were thrilled to begin our new lives together, and keep raising the kids into well behaved and respectable young adults. We even talked about possibly having children of our own. So, a week later Jake and I had quite a bit of "adult" fun, if you get my drift. But now in the past couple weeks my stomach has been driving me up and down the wall; tossing and turning around at just about every smell: food, trash, dead animals, etc. Elissia is in the kitchen cooking up some tuna steaks, as I walk into the kitchen.
The smell of uncooked fish hits my nose and I begin gagging at the smell. I make a mad dash to the half bathroom at the end of the hall, and begin throwing up into the toilet. Elissia rushes over and asks if I'm alright, and I nod my head, saying that the smell of the tuna is making me queasy. She helps me to bed and tells me to rest while taking the tuna steaks out onto the grill and cooking them; giving them to our next door neighbor. I manage to fall asleep for a little while, but then I have to go to the bathroom; I get up slowly and head that direction, when all of a sudden, everything goes black and I collapse to the ground, the world turning dark and I pass out completely.
(Elissia's POV)
I hear a small thud and rush upstairs to check on Avril (a.k.a. Mom). What I find is her passed out on the ground, so I call 911 on the phone. A woman on the other end says, "This is 911, what is your emergency?" I tell her that my mother has passed out, and had been complaining that the smell of food was making her sick. The dispatcher then asks me to check if she's still breathing and has a pulse; I check for breathing and she is in fact still breathing. I then check for her pulse, and it's strong.
I tell this to the dispatcher; she says she's calling an ambulance for us, and to stay on the phone until I hear the sirens. Half an hour later I hear sirens outside, and EMT personnel asking where we are. I yell out that we are in the master bedroom upstairs. They rush upstairs and lay her on a stretcher, quickly carrying her out to the ambulance. I rush after them, grabbing my shoes and putting them on once I get into the vehicle. I grab my purse along with Mom's for identification. Before leaving, I tell my siblings to call Dad and let them know that Mom and I are headed to the hospital. We finally arrive and they take her into the emergency room, into a small compartment and set her on a bed. They hook up the machines to her, and I wait for Dad to show up.
(Back to Jake's POV)
I am in the studio working on new guitar material, when the door is pushed open and CC comes up to me with a worried expression on his face. "What's wrong, Christian?" I ask him. He looks at me, replying; "Asher's here. Says it's important..." I set my guitar down on my seat and rush out to the main lobby, seeing my oldest son sitting in a chair nearby. I rush over and call for his attention. "Asher? What's going on?" He sees me, and stands up, telling me the one thing I did not want to hear; "Mom's (Avril) in the hospital; Elissia found her unconscious on the floor, and she went with her to stay by her side until you would get there." I head back and grab my jacket, along with my wallet and keys, rushing down to the hospital in my new, black Chevy® Camaro.
Once I arrive at the hospital, I ask the receptionist about my wife. She kindly asks for my name and I tell her it's Jake Pitts. She nods her head and opens the door, where the doctor is waiting for me. He asks if I am Jacob Pitts, and I say yes; that I prefer Jake instead. He humbly apologizes for the mistake, and I tell him it's alright. I then ask about Avril, and he pats my shoulder in a calming manner. He says, "She is perfectly healthy mentally and emotionally; although there was one minor thing we found when we did a physical exam on her."
I ask what he found, and the news he gives shocks me at first. He quietly says, "We found out she's expecting a child." My jaw hits the floor, and he chuckles a little, patting my shoulder once more. "I'm guessing from your reaction, this means it's a good thing?" he says. I nod my head, feeling tears pooling in my eyes. He leaves me be, and I head into the emergency wing, finding Avril's compartment, along with Elissia. She hugs me tight, and I kiss her head softly.
"Did you see the doctor, Dad? Because he hasn't come in here recently"; she asks. I can only nod my head and softly reply, "Yes, he did." She asks if he said anything about her condition, and I tell her that she's going to be a big sister again. She quietly squeals into my shoulder, and I laugh quietly. Soon, Avril wakes up, and I sit down next to her, grabbing her hand. She gently says, "Why am I in the hospital? What Happened?" I tell her that she had collapsed at home, and Elissia brought her here. She smiles and slowly sits up; I then tell her the news that the Doctor gave me. "Baby, the Dr. stopped me and told me something important; it was the reason that you collapsed..."
She looks at me, awaiting the answer; I slowly break the news. "Baby, we're expecting a child." At first, she is in shock and continuously asks me if what I just said is true. I nod my head up and down quickly, smiling the whole time. Then she leans over and hugs me tight. I pull her close, running my fingers through her long, soft blonde hair. We spend a few minutes kissing each other passionately. I rubs her cheeks softly and kiss her face all over, beyond ecstatic that we're having a bundle of joy in 9 months from now.
