In The End; I Lost It All
Chapter 17: The Twin's Arrival Home from the Hospital
(Avril's POV)
Today's officially the day that we get to bring the twins home from the hospital. Jake and I are beyond thrilled that they are able to come home with us. While Jake is signing my discharge papers, I am getting the twins ready in their outfits that we chose and stuck into my hospital bag. Georgia's outfit consists of a hot pink and black onesie that reads "Daddy's Little Rock Star Gal", her pink beanie given from the hospital, and some adorable hot pink slip-on jelly shoes. For Anakin's outfit, it says on his onesie "Daddy's Little Man." With his accessories, he has his blue beanie hat and slip on shoes as well.
Jake finally comes back into the room, and I am ready to leave, along with the twins who are strapped into their car seats already. Jake takes a hold of Georgia's car seat, while I carry Anakin's car seat. Once we make it down to the exit, Jake gets the twins strapped into the car and the seat belts clicked into place. I then get into the car, with his help and sit in between the twins. He gets into the driver's seat and pulls out of the hospital driveway.
We make our journey back home quickly; being greeted by the other BVB members and their wives. Tam is the first one to open the door, and grab a car seat so I can get out easier. Once I get out, Jake brings Georgia over so the guys and girls can fawn over them, and shower them with hugs and kisses. After visiting with everyone, the kids are the next ones to greet their siblings and hold them for a few minutes. The dogs are then anxious to meet the new family members, so Asher brings them in and they sniff at them slowly, unsure of what to think.
Trixy hears them cooing and immediately takes a maternal liking to them, rubbing their tiny faces with her snout and wagging her tail frantically. Ernie; however, thinks that they are squeak toys and goes to take a bite out of Georgia. Jake pops him on the nose, scolding him for trying to bite Georgia. He gets the memo and shies away, hiding under the couch. We get the twins out of the confinements of their car seats; Jake picks up Anakin while I pick up Georgia.
We take them to their nursery and set them down to sleep for a while. They fall asleep instantly, so we head out to the living room and sit down for a bit. After a while, we both head to bed and Jake wraps his arm around me instinctively. I curl up against him and we both fall asleep right away.
Skipping a few hours later
(Jake's POV)
A few hours after going to bed, I hear one of twins wailing frantically. Avril goes to get up, but I stop her and kiss her bare shoulder, telling her to go back to sleep; that I have it handled. She rubs my cheek, and lays back down. I head into the nursery and find my son wailing loudly, so I pick him up and hold him close to me. I walk around the nursery, yet he is still crying. I then check his diaper, which is dry.
I finally conclude that he's hungry, so I go into the kitchen and make up a bottle of formula and warm it up in the microwave for a few seconds. Once it's warm enough his stomach, I gently set the bottle to his lips and he opens up his mouth, slurping up his early morning snack. After he has finished, I slowly burp him and set him back down in his crib.
After he's gone back to sleep, I head to bed and fall asleep with my arm wrapped around my wife. We manage to get our much-needed sleep, as the twins slept throughout the night. The next morning, I notice Avril is not in bed, so I head to the nursery and check up on my family. I smile when I look inside and see her breastfeeding the twins and singing them lullabies. The first one I notice is a song from the Disney movie, Lady and the Tramp.
