Chapter twenty two - sleep.

Hey guys! I know this update is a bit late, but that's because I'm trying to figure out where I'm going with this book and possible plan the sequel (I haven't got any good names yet, so suggestions are very welcome). This update is short because I'm posting the next one later this week, just as soon as I've finished writing it. I was going to publish them together, but I split it in two because I think that you've waited long enough! Anyway, as you know, I don't own the Twilight saga or any of its associates, so don't sue me.

I struggled against rock, maybe marble or granite, but an unbeatable weight regardless. It pressed down on me like a wall, dark and harsh and cold, not letting up for a single second. The wall was painful in the way that exhaustion usually is, an impossible drain on whatever energy I had left after the past few days.

I wasn't just drained physically, though. I was betrayed — again, left alone in this wilderness of a harsh world, and I couldn't forgive what had happened. But what had happened? I couldn't remember. The heavy weight above me filled my thoughts, making it impossible to truly think beyond emotion.

I struggled against the drain, but I kept losing focus on what I was doing. I had been awake and upset, but then I was angry, wasn't I? I didn't want to fall sleep, I could remember that much... but why? Sleep seemed the easiest way to go — and now that I was actually asleep I knew it would be so much better just to give in to it.

So I did.
