A/N Yeah guys, I know just how late this is, but it's more than double the length of my usual chapter so that should make up for it! It's a bit unedited because I wanted to get it up as soon as possible, but you should know that since I do speak (bad) sign language, I have checked all the hand gestures and stuff. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter and it doesn't have too many spelling mistakes — but either way I need to say that I don't own the Twilight saga, it all belongs to Stephanie Meyer, and I don't want to be sued.

The weight shifted above, like a blanket being pulled off suddenly, and I was awake.
Oh. I thought, unable to think of it in any other way.
The weight was gone, and I was sitting up in bed, but where was I? My brain was clogged up with hazy memories and lingering drowsiness... but I remembered a few things.
"Bella!" Came a high pitched squeal to the side of me. That was my name, I remembered — but who was this person? "You're finally awake!" I stared at the girl, a horrible retch of betrayal running through me. It was Alice... Alice, who had been my best friend but couldn't be trusted. She was like everyone else, and she had decided that it would be better to lie to me, to tell me it would be okay and manipulate me so many times...
Just like Charlie had.
"I'm sorry about getting Jasper to put you to sleep, but you were getting really panicky — it was the only thing I could think of. I thought that you might like to come out with me today, though? Once you're dressed, that is." She was very cautious about what she was saying, as though she wasn't as sure of anything anymore. Before, she had always made me go shopping with her — but now it seemed like she didn't have the power. I wondered if Esme had said something while I was out.
"We could go shopping, if you'd like? I wanted to get you some new things anyway... Bella? What's up?"
I glared at her.
"Please Bella," she asked, her expression changing in just a second. I kept my eyes locked on her's, not flinching at the look of betrayal on her face, "You have to tell me when something's wrong!"
I opened my mouth to talk, to yell at the top of my lungs about the secrets she was keeping from me, but I couldn't say anything. Nothing, nada, zilch, I couldn't utter a sound to her. I tried to make my lips form vowels and constants, to make a goddam word come out, but all I got was coughing. My throat burned up, dry and abrasive, and I was hacking all over the place.
"Bella, Bella... oh Bella!" Alice panicked, moving nearer to me and reaching out her hand. I flinched away, my heart beating way too fast at the thought of her touching me.
Why can't I just speak! I shouted angrily in the confines of my own head. Why can't I just bloody speak! I buried my head in my knees, letting sobs wrack my body. "Bella, do you want me to get Carlisle... Carlisle? Dad? I don't know what to do about Bella, I think she's having a panic attack." Alice didn't raise her voice at all when she spoke to her father, but I knew he could hear everything she was saying.
The door opened quickly and in rushed the figures of three vampires, scrabbling around me in almost as much panic as I was in. Carlisle knelt down next to me and checked my pulse wth his cool fingers, his eyebrow sewn together in worry. "Bella, I'm going to need you to breathe really deeply right now and focus on getting your pulse back to normal." His voice was low and soothing over the panic attack, but it was the voice of a certain other vampire that brought me back to reality.
