Promise's house looked amazing. It sat in the end of a gated community on the other side of town. I had to flash a card that hung from the rear view mirror to the gate keeper in order to get in. This was one thing that Promise had forgotten to tell me. The other was the fact that she lived in basically a mansion.
On the drive here she had called me, and I talked to her through the blue tooth in the car radio. She said she forgot to tell me that her bedroom was the last room on the left. I was glad she told me that because looking at this house from the driveway made me feel lost all ready.
Trees lined both sides of the long driveway that lend to a round about with a garden of beautiful coloured flowers in the middle. The house itself was only two floors, but it was long. It looked to have about five bedrooms, plus all those other unnecessary rooms like game rooms, movie rooms and reading rooms. Seriously? Who need's those? You combine all them into a living room in every normal persons home.
I parked her car beside a black mustang convertible. I saw a garage to the right of the house, but I didn't want to take my chances in trying to find where this car is usually parked. Clearly they had a lot of cars.
As I walked up the steps to the front door, I couldn't help but think how much it would cost to heat this place in the winter. Jody used to always complain about how much her electricity bills were, and we just lived in a small apartment. This place must cost a fortune to keep it warm.
The door opened for me as I reached it. A tall beautiful looking man with stunning blue eyes was standing behind it smiling at me. This must be Frank, I thought. I smiled back at him as I walked inside.
The front entrance of the house was stunning. Beautiful hard wood lined the floors that I assumed went all through out the house, and a grand spiral staircase was sat in the middle of the room. I spun around, amazed by the sight in front of me, and came face to face with Frank, who was looking at me, confused. He held out his hand, so I shrugged my jacket off and gave it to him, muttering a thank you. I kicked my shoes off and gave them to him as well, before he put them into the coat room beside the front door.
"There is a surprise waiting for you in the living room." He said with a smile.
"Okay." I said, and stayed standing still looking at him.
"Arn't you going to go look?" He said, confused.
"Right, yeah okay. To the living room," I said, nervously. Shit, where is the living room? I walked forward to the middle of the front entrance room where I could decide to go left, right or straight. Remembering that Promise said her bedroom was to the left, I decided to go to the right. The living room wouldn't be right next to her room. Or so I was hoping. I'm going to have to go exploring this place tonight when everyone else is asleep, I thought.
The living room was at the end of the right hallway, just as I was hoping. It was just as fancy and beautiful as the rest of the house. Or what I have seen anyways. It was clearly a formal space, as there was no TV, just a fireplace and big uncomfortable looking couches and chairs.
In one of the chairs sat a person, looking into the fireplace. "Hello," I said to get there attention, and it worked. But then I was left speechless as this person turned around. He was so good looking. He was tall, and looked to have some nice muscles. His hair was a nice shade of brown, kind of in between a light and dark colour. But his blue eyes are what got to me. They sparkled when the light hit them. I think I might have a soft spot for blue eyes now, I thought to myself.
Is this Blair? I thought as he walked towards me. He's her best friend? But why would he be sitting in here as a 'surprise' if he's just her best friend? So many questions were running through my mind, and they were all answered when he got to me and spoke.
"Hey babe," He said, "Did you miss me?" and then he kissed me. So he's a boyfriend. Promise didn't tell me she had a boyfriend. I pulled back when he tried to shove his tongue in my mouth.
"Of course I missed you," I said, shocked and a little out of breath. This wasn't my first kiss, but it sure felt like it was. My first kiss was when I was in elementary school, almost so long ago that I don't remember it. "Let's catch up, after I go to the bathroom." I lied.
I didn't want to take the chance of looking stupid opening up all the doors in the hallway looking for the bathroom, so I just ran to the end of the left hall into Promise's bedroom. I didn't even take the chance to look around her room, just went straight in and opened up the first door on the left side of the room, which was thankfully the bathroom. After locking the door behind me, I went and sat on the toilet seat. It was then i decided to actually look around.
The bathroom was beautiful, it made you feel like you were in a spa. Dark brown cabinets and tiles contrasted beautifully with the white floor. The toilet was to the left beside a stand up shower, with the vanity across on the right wall. At the end of the bathroom was a beautiful jacuzzi tub. I couldn't wait to relax in that.
Before I got to carried away imagining what the jets would feel like massaging my lower back, I dug out Promise's cell phone from her purse and called her. She answered on the first ring.
"What's the matter?" she said.
"You have a boyfriend?" I whisper yelled back.
"Oh yeah. I forgot."
"How could you forget you have a boyfriend? You know, someone who hugs you, kisses you, and calls you babe?" I said, irritated.
"Well, I don't love him or anything. We were kind of set up by our parents. Plus he has been away the past month and a half doing some stupid training for race car driving. Like I could give a crap about any of that. I swear whenever we were together all he would talk about were cars. Like, ew. Boring. I would rather talk about politics then cars." she ranted.
"Promise, focus. This isn't a call where you vent all your boyfriend drama to me. Remember he's not your boyfriend anymore? He's mine. And I had no idea that by doing this switch, I would get a boyfriend. I don't even know his name!" I yelled for real this time. I hope no one heard me.
"Relax. He's harmless. His name is Tyler Martin, his dad is a famous race car driver, and I guess Tyler want's to follow in his footsteps. I met him when his dad got a publishing deal with my parents company to write a biography about his life and do you really need these details? None of them matter. Break up with him if you don't want a boyfriend." Promise said.
"I can't just break up with him." I said. "I've never done that before."
"You've never broken up with someone?"
"No. I've only ever been dumped." I said.
"Well, whatever. Do what you want. Google how to dump a guy if you really want to. I have to go. I think Jody want's me to do the dishes. Wish me luck, I've never done them before."
"Good luck I guess." I muttered.
"Oh and one more thing I forgot." She said.
"Great, another thing?"
"Sorry, I have a bad memory. Blair and Dana are coming over tonight for a sleepover. Have fun. I'll give you a call after midnight. Everyone should be asleep by then." She said, and hung up the phone.
"Bye," I said to the dial tone.
I flushed the toilet and washed my hands, even thought I didn't actually go to the bathroom. I was worried that Tyler would have wandered into my room, and me walking out without doing the normal things people do after going to the washroom would make me look like a freak. I unlocked the bathroom door and stepped out. I was going to take a few seconds to check my new bedroom out, but I noticed someone sitting on the queen sized bed in the middle of the room. And it wasn't Tyler.
