My first day of school. Well, I guess it's not really my first day of school, but it is my first day of going to a public school. My whole life I  have either been home schooled or went to private schools.

I snooped around Chloe's room over the weekend, and found a crumpled class schedule, stapled to a school map. It told me where her classes were, teacher names, and, most importantly, her locker number and combination.

I picked out the best looking clothes that Chloe owned, a pair of blue jeans with no holes, a plain black shirt with no stains, and her newest sneaker. I didn't like the look on me, especially because I didn't have any make up on, and my hair wasn't done, but I guess I passed as Chloe. We'll know for sure when her best friends see me at school today.

"Chloe, hurry up. We're going to be late if you don't come out now." Jody said through the bedroom door, so I grabbed Chloe's old book bag and went out to meet her in the kitchen. "Well, don't you look nice today." She said when I entered.

Nice? This outfit is nice? What's nice would be if I was wearing my new dress from Dynamite that Dana randomly got me as a gift last week. I still muttered a thank you to Jody before we left the apartment.

Chloe's public school wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The school was definitely old, as you could tell from the brinks and stained windows, but the outside grass was a vibrant healthy looking green, and trimmed nicely. There were students sitting on benches under the trees, and other just aimlessly standing in groups.

What really caught my eye, was the fact that the students weren't split up into cliques. Unlike my private school, where the athletic hang out with athletic, art geeks hang out with art geeks, and popular's, such as myself, hang out with other popular's, this school was very diverse. In one circle of student near the front entrance, there was a kid wearing a sports jersey, holding hands with an obvious art geek, who was talking to someone taking pictures - probably for yearbook- of the cheerleader and - my guess is math nerd as he was wearing glasses - making out.

I squeezed past the group and made my way to my new locker. I tried my best to memorize where it was last night by looking at the map, but I still found myself taking out the piece of paper when I got to it, just to make sure. As I was taking out the binder marked 'English' my elbow smacked into something hard behind me.

"Ow," the person behind me said, and I turned around fast, coming face to face with the most gorgeous blue eye's I have ever seen.

"I'm so sorry." I rushed out. "Are you okay? Is your nose bleeding?" I asked when I realized his hand was cupping it.

"I should be fine. I forgive you this time, Chloe." He said, then leaned up on the locker next to mine. "So, how was your weekend? Get into any trouble?" As he was asking these questions, it finally clicked into my head that this must be David.

"Of course I didn't get into any trouble, you know me." I said, playing off the fact that hopefully Chloe doesn't do anything illegal in her spare time.

"Right, how could I forget," he laughed as the bell rang. "Come on, lets get to class."

I followed behind him as he walked into the English class and sat down beside a pretty blonde, wearing a cheerleader uniform.

"Hey guys! Are you coming to the soccer game tonight?" she said as we sat down. So this must be Jasmine.

"Wouldn't miss it, right Chloe?" David said.

"Of course not! Can't wait!" I said with fake enthusiasm. Hopefully they couldn't tell.

"I know you don't usually like watching soccer Chloe, but come one. The least you could do is be excited that David is finally going to be back on the team." The blonde said.

"You're on the soccer team?" I asked. Why didn't Chloe tell me this?

"Jasmine, you weren't supposed to say anything. I won't even know if I'm back on till tonight. And yes, Chloe, I'm on the soccer team. I dropped out of the team just before you got here so I could help my dad out more with the coffee shop, and then when I wanted to get back on the team when the shop was running smoothly, I broke my ankle. You remember that? I know you were always asking why I was so emotional just because I broke it, saying that it will heal and not be forever, but it was because I couldn't get back on the team. I wanted to have last year to practice before college coaches and scouts come to this years games looking for people to give scholarships to."

"So you're really into this soccer thing, how come you didn't tell me?"  I asked, also taking in the fact that the beautiful blonde beside David was Chloe's other best friend.

"I don't know. I just didn't really talk to anyone about soccer after I broke my ankle, but it's all healed now, and coach said there's a chance I can play tonight."

"He's just going to let you play? Don't you usually have to try out to be on sports teams?"

"David was one of this schools best soccer players, coach didn't want him to quit the team, but he understood, and said he was welcome back whenever he was ready." Jasmine said.

"Okay class. Listen up." The teacher said, interrupting our conversation. The teacher talked for a few minutes before giving us our assignment for today's class. Jasmine and David were quietly working on their assignment, and small chatter could be heard from the other students in class. I wasn't sure if Chloe was one to talk during class, but I just couldn't hold in my question, so i spoke anyways.

"So you said David was 'one of the best'. Who is the other best?" I said as quietly as possible.

David was about to answer me, but was interrupted by someone slamming the classroom door open.

"Alec Shaw." The teacher said as a boy walked into the room. "Please come see me for a minute."

As the boy walked toward the teachers desk, which was close to ours at the front of the room, I couldn't help but stare at him. He wore a t-shirt and jeans, showing off his muscles. His brown hair was messy, his lip had a little blood on it, and he was sporting a black eye.

"Chloe you should know the answer to that question. Alec is one of the best sports players in our school. You've hated him since you got here." David finally whispered in my ear.

"Right, I just forgot about him because I hate him so much." I muttered. Why does Chloe hate this guy?

When Alec was sent to his desk a few minutes later, with his assignment in hand and clearly not in any trouble for being late to class, I made the short walk to the teachers desk and asked to use the bathroom. Jasmine and David were staring at me, so I figured this is something Chloe never does, but I need to call her, it can't wait till later.

I was thankful that I found the bathroom just by walking down the hall to the left, because I never studied where they were on the map. Once I made sure no one else was in there, I sat on the lid of the toilet in the last stall and called her from her shitty phone.

"Who is Alec Shaw and why do you hate him?" I said as soon as she answered.
