"I only wanna die alive! Never by the hands of a broken heart, I don't wanna hear you lie tonight, now that I've become who I - what the hell?" I yelled when my headphones were violently ripped out of my ears.

"You were singing out loud again." David laughed, sitting down beside me at the lunch table.

"Oh, my bad. But it was just such a good song, and I have such a great voice, I thought everyone wouldn't mind hearing me sing my heart out during lunch." I said, folding up my headphones and tucking my iPod away in my bag.

"Where did you get that thing anyways? I thought you didn't have an iPod, just an old MP3 player?" David asked.

"It was, you know, I bought, no I found it online for cheap." I stuttered, it was obvious I was lying, and he could tell, but thankfully he dropped the subject.

"So listen, there's a soccer game here tomorrow night, and on the first game, you looked like you were having a pretty good time with Jasmine, so I was thinking you would want to go again? Tomorrow night, to the soccer game."

"Ew no, I hate sports." I said, but after a few seconds I realized my mistake from the look in his face. "But, I guess I could go. To support you and all."

"Awesome. Look, I have to go catch up on my math homework, but I'll see you tonight at the coffee shop like usual? See ya." David said, and then left. I reached into my bag to take out my iPod again, a gift I took from Promise, I'm sure she wouldn't mind it missing. I was about to pull it out of my bag when someone sat next to me again.

"David, I already told you, I'm going to your, what the hell are you doing here?" I whisper yelled when I turned my head to see Blair.

"I got a visitors pass. I'm a family friend telling you that your mom is going to be working late."

"Couldn't she have just called the school to tell me? Oh wait, I get it now. That was your lie to get in here." I said, blushing a bit from taking so long to clue in.

"Anyways , I'm actually here because you haven't been answering your phone." Blair said. "You didn't answer when Promise and I called you last night."

"Ya I fell asleep early, I didn't hear it ringing."

"What about when I called you three times this morning ?"

"Blair, look. If you're feeling rejected because I never talked much to you about our kiss, I'm sorry. But you don't have to be so clingy, it's unattractive." I said, and put a hand on his shoulder, therapist style.

"That's not why I was calling. Look, something important happened last night, and Promise and I really need to talk to you. She's here right now, she's hiding in the library. Can we go meet her there?" Blair said, already standing up from the table. I gathered my things and shoved them in my bag while he threw out my leftovers from lunch.

"Is everything okay? What's going on?"

"I'll explain in a minute. Just lead me to the library. "

"Yeah okay. It's just around the corner."

The library was just as it usually is. The librarian sat behind her desk, sleeping, and some people sat in the sitting area reading and working on homework. Then there were the people who come to take advantage of the computers, and use them to play games. Blair led me to a back corner, hidden by bookshelves, where Promise was sitting on the floor, a book in front of her face.

"What's this all about?" I said quietly as I took a seat beside her on the floor, and Blair sat beside me.

Promise lowered the book from in front of her face, she had a deadly serious look on her face.
