Amane's POV
Mattini gave me a quick tour in the grounds.
"So here's the library, girl. We have all sorts of collections. Fiction, Non-fiction, science fiction, literally everything. You can do some research here too. If you're really interested on something." She said. I quietly nod.
I saw the boy who held my hand yesterday sitting on far end couch reading some book.
"Um, can I stay here for the meantime?" I ask Mattini. She smiles at me.
"Sure. I'll come back for you by... 11?"
"Thanks." I say.
After Mattini left, I cautiously approach the boy. I forgot his name. I think he was Drive.
"Hi?" I say a little too low.
"What brings you here?" He asks. He puts away the book he's reading.
"I guess I need to talk to the person who got me in here." I say. He looks at me intently. Right into my eyes.
"Your eyes are weird." Wow he suddenly comments about my eyes.
"Yeah, I saw them this morning." I roll my eyes.
"You got me curious."
"How did you find me?" I ask, wishing this could help me remember things.
"Demon energy was particularly high in that area. The area is known to be a peaceful neighbourhood. So I went. Instead of demons, I found you. Swimming in blood." He says. "Thought you were dead, but you still had pulse."
"Demons?" I'm more than confused.
"Once they are angels. Because of their pride, God separated them from the other angels. They were casted away from heaven."
"And you people here are angels?" I ask cautiously. He chuckles.
"Some. Most of us here are Nephilim. Part Angel, part human. The blood of the angel always the dominant one." He explains.
"Who are the angels here?"
"Gabby is an angel. So is Raph. They guard the Angel Camp."
"Do you kill demons?" I suddenly ask. He was surprised by my question.
"We don't. We send them back to the demonic realm. But by doing that, you have to do some act resembling to killing."
"What do you think am I?" He stared at me. He seems speechless.
We were quiet for a moment. Until he breaks the ice.
"I asked Gabby. She says she's looking into study. Well, if you are asking me, you're either an angel, or an ordinary human being. You're definitely not a demon. Demons can't enter these holy grounds."
I sigh inwardly. Hoping it gives me some relief, but it doesn't.
"Why do you think I don't have any memory?" I ask out of curiousity.
He looks at me intently as he says, "Someone must have gotten rid of them. Or someone might have hidden them deep in your mind and put a block in it. Who knows."
"Is there any way I can retrieve them? My... Memories?" I ask.
"That I cannot answer. I'm not knowledgeable about those stuff."
"Oh." How can I ever remember anything?
I looked around the room full of books. My hands were itching to get hold of at least one, when a certain door got my attention.
"What's inside that room?" I ask.
"Weapons room. Would you like to see what's inside?"
"I'd love to."
The weapons room looks big. On the outside it looked small. As the room's name suggests, it is full of weapons and armory. There are different sorts of gears, blades, whips, and a certain bow and arrow.
The bow and it's arrow got me curious.
"Drive, what's this?" I point at the bow and arrow.
"Starshots. My name's Drift, by the way." He chuckles. Drift. Oh I thought it's Drive.
The Starshots look pretty. I wish I could touch them.
Drive, I mean, Drift, must have noticed my curiosity on the starshots, because he goes near me and talks about them.
"These Starshots are said to be made by the Angel Azazel. These are the most prized weapons of the angels back then. That made Azazel change. He was full of pride then. His starshots caused him his fall."
"If he's a demon, why is this here, in an Angel Camp?" That made me confused.
"To make sure it's in good hands. These starshots have the ability to kill demons and angels alike. It's a very powerful weapon." Wow. No wonder Azazel fell out of Heaven.
"What can it do to the Nephilim? Like... You?" I ask.
"It will weaken us."
"Oh." Well at least, the Nephilim can survive the wrath of the starshots.
"It's almost 11, come on, Mattini's going back soon." He leads me outside the weapons room.
I wonder how it would feel to get my hands on those starshots.
