Amane's POV
Gabby ordered everyone, including me, to gather in the training room.
The training room is magical. It adjusts itself to cater to the nephilim. As more people went inside, the training room gets bigger.
Mattini and Jake are on the other side of the room. Mattini waves at us, signaling for us to join them.
"Hey." Drift says, handshaking with Jake.
I smile at Mattini, mouthing a Hello.
Gabby arrives shortly. She calls everyone to pay attention.
"Angels' children, I had a vision last night." Gabby starts.
Everyone was eager to listen. Even me.
"I sense a war coming. A war between Angels, Demons, and the Nephilim."
Everyone gasps. Drift was devoid of any emotion. Mattini paled. Jake held Mattini's hand.
"The starshots are missing. A very valuable and dangerous weapon to both the angels and the demons."
The room becomes noisy. Everyone is panicking. They know what the starshots can do.
"The Grimoire of Angels is missing as well." Gabby continues. The room became silent.
I swear I might here a pin drop.
"To prepare, I like everyone to train. No, I require everyone to train. I want all of you to handle blessed blades very well. I want all of you to prepare." Gabby emphasizes.
"We will win this war, the Angels and the Nephilim. The Nephilim is strong. The angels have given each one of you a gift." She adds. She looks at everyone with an encouraging look, until her eyes rest on me.
She smiles at me. It made me wonder what kind of gifts did the angels bestow upon the Nephilim.
"The angels are preparing as well. We will protect all angel camps around the world. Especially this camp." She says.
"Training will start at 1. You train by pair." With that, she ends her order. She walks out of the room and everyone follows suit.
"I wonder if training includes me." I say out of nowhere.
"Well, she called you too to attend the gathering. So, of course you are included." Mattini says like it is a matter of fact. Drift and Jake nods.
"I don't even know what I am." I admit. Jake eyes me with curiosity.
"You're not a demon, though you're hair's black." Jake says, Mattini elbows him hard.
"She's not a demon. No nephilim has black hair. So you're human." Drift says, like he was ending the discussion.
I sigh. I don't feel human. What if I'm really different?
"Let's grab lunch, my stomach creatures are growling." Drift says, breaking our silence.

After lunch, we all head back to the training room to get training apparatus.
"I wonder who'd like to pair with me." I say. Drift looks at me like I said something stupid.
"I'm pairing with you." He says. He took a stick, well... It looks like a rod. But it's a stick. The stick glowed brightly with his touch. It made me wonder if all angel weapons glow.
He handed me a stick, a rod, identical to the one he got. Mine glowed dully. Unlike his.
"Is it supposed to glow like this?" I ask him. He gives me a confused look.
"I don't know. If you are a nephilim, it's supposed to glow like mine." He says, showing me his stick.
"What does this make of me then?" I ask him. He chuckles.
"Maybe a goddess of sticks." He answers. I laugh. Weird, but I found it funny that we were still able to joke despite everyone taking this seriously.
"Let's get serious, shall we?" He says, smiling.
"We shall." I say, chuckling.
Drift taught me how to maneuver the rod. The rod is a representation of the blade we are soon going to use in training.
"This rod, imagine it as your blade. This is an extension of your body. Particularly your arm. It might be heavy, but once you get the hang of it, you don't let it control you. You control it." He explains.
"This stick can control me?" I ask him. He chuckles.
"Without training, yes." He answers. "So does blades." He adds.
Ohhh.
"How about some defenses? I'll do offense. Defend yourself using your stick." He suggests.
I smile. "Sure."
He aimed for my head and I deflected the blow.
"Nice start, Amane." He chuckles. I smile.
He still aims for my head but moves faster than before. I was surprised on how quickly I was able to defend.
He stops doing offense and stares at me with amazement.
"Wow. Didn't expect that from you." He says. I shrug.
"One more." He says, challenging me. I like this.
He aims on different parts, sometimes on the head, arms, thigh and abdomen. He moves incredibly fast, he was almost a blur of movements. But I was faster.
To my surprise, his stick escaped his hand and landed far from him, unglowing. He looks at me with an expression I couldn't read.
Everyone in the room was staring at me in awe.
I saw Gabby looking at me with admiration in her eyes.
"Did I hurt you?" I ask Drift as I go and get his stick.
"No." He said, chuckling.
I look at him to see if he really was unhurt. Well, he looked perfectly fine. Sweaty yet still good-looking.
Wow, I called him good-looking.
He looked at me with amusement.
"You're pretty good with the rods huh." He commented.
"I don't know." I shrug. Maybe I was good at this before I lost my memories.
"Yeah maybe you are." Did he just sensed my thoughts? Oh my God.
"Sensed is a very general word. It's more like, read." He says, chuckling.
My God. He must've read my mind when I thought he was good-looking!
Drift laughed and I stood there, face red like a tomato, embarrassed.
