Amane's POV
I binge in my dinner, delighted to finally rest and eat after hours of training. Drift eyed me, amusement clear in his blue eyes.
"Very hungry, huh?" He comments, chuckling. Well, he eats like there's no tomorrow.
"I don't eat like there's no tomorrow." He says defensively that I laugh. He looks embarrassed that I noticed it was his second plate already.
"Stop reading my mind." I say as I laugh. He smiles.
"Well your thoughts are like open books. Easy to read and very accessible." He says.
"How about others' thoughts?" I ask him, curious. He shrugs.
"The nephilim are trained to shield their thoughts from unwanted prying." He explains. "Demons are very... Professional in prying." He adds.
Oh. He must have meant that demons do mind-control.
"Exactly." He says. He's reading my mind again.
"How can I shield my thoughts then?" I ask him. He smiles.
"Raphael can help you with that." He answers.
Oh. Raphael who flinched from me while shaking my hand.
"I can go with you, if you want me too." He offers shyly. Drift, shy?
"That's nice." I say. He chuckles, eyes twinkling.
He's got those beautiful blue irises.
"You've got cool eyes too." He says. My face turn red.
"Stop reading my mind!"

Dinner time was over, and Drift and I head to the library.
"Gabby said the angels bestowed gifts upon the nephilim, right?" I ask him, confirming if I heard it right. He nods.
"Yeah. That's why we are called nephilim." He says. We... I'm not included.
He looks at me with an unreadable expression. "I hope I could help you retrieve your memories. We might be able to get something there, know what you are." He says.
"Gabby told me I can, but she said the process takes a lot of time, and I can enter the academy to know my being." I say. He looks at me.
"The academy is a strict institution." He says as though he was horrified.
"Why?" I ask, curious. Well, I'm entering the academy. But Gabby had not confirmed anything with you Amane.
"Can't say. I don't want you to quit entering." He says with finality. He looks at me expectantly.
I change the topic.
"What's your gift?" I ask him. He looked taken aback.
"What gift? Christmas present?" He asks, chuckling.
