Clothes? Check. Toiletries? Check. Ambrosia and nectar? Check. Weapons? Check.
All the things I needed were laid out ready to go on my bed. Ready for tomorrow's departure.
The clothes were from the camp store, where shirts and pants were easy to get. Luke had introduced me to Travis and Connor earlier in the day and they had gladly given me the things I needed. Well, given may be an operative term, hey we're sons of the God of Thieves after all.
And I couldn't exactly go back to New York.
Travis and Connor ran the camp store, where everything was brought in from the city by demigods with minor god parents and satyrs. Except weapons, those were in the weapons shed.
The Stoll brothers had apparently nicked a lot of it from shut down sweat shops in New York and other places they'd been to on quests.
How on earth they were able to transport that much stuff was beyond me.
"Magic duffel bag." I turned around to see Luke.
"What?" I asked.
"A magic duffel bag. They have one. It's pretty much infinite on the inside. You could pack it with a whole store and it still wouldn't be full." He smiled and put an arm against my bunk. "You don't have to go you know." His eyes full of concern.
I nodded. "I know. It's the girl. Annabeth. She never got claimed. She didn't deserve this, she didn't deserve to be taken. To be trapped in her own body." I have to save her.
Luke understood completely.
"You know," he mused, "You're cute when you think aloud."
I turned scarlet, hiding my face in embarrassment.
"Sorry about the...fainting incident. To be honest I don't really remember anything. But I hope you didn't freak out about it." He joked.
Yah, I guess I freaked. Especially after Chiron told us that it was poison. But I'd never admit that to Luke. Especially not the day before we leave on a quest. With Percy with us the whole way.
Luke was smiling. "What?"
He laughed. "You might need to control your thoughts a little more!"
Horror washed through me. "What did you hear?"
"Oh, just that you were freaked and that you'd never admit that to me." He laughed again.
I was appalled. "Gods Luke! Ever heard of common courtesy?" I grabbed the edge of the bunk bed and swung my legs over so I was sitting on my top bunk.
Luke walked over to the edge of the bunk across the small walkway and did the same.
"You're moving beds?"
He chuckled. "I guess? We should be getting used to sleeping close. After all, we're all going to have to sleep next to each other for the next gods know how long."
Luke and I would also have to wake up really early tomorrow morning. And with Luke going on a quest, the Stoll brothers had been appointed temporary counselor-ship.
Gods help the Hermes cabin.
The rest of Cabin Eleven walked back in from washing up. There were four sections of bunks inside the Hermes cabin. The one Luke and I were in now had ten o'clock bathroom time. And the group before us had just come back.
Luke and I both needed all the sleep we could get before tomorrow.
