Sophia's ears were ringing.

The back of her head was pounding, waves of pain jolting through it every few seconds. It had collided with the headrest of her chair as they had collided with the earth, sending fuzzy black spots over her vision. Her chest was burning with pain, winded from the impact and struggling to bring in enough air. Her legs felt numb. She wasn't sure if it was another injury or just from sitting down for a long period of time. Either way, it reverberated a dull ache up through her torso.

She sat in silence for a few moments, sucking in air and holding a hand to the middle of her chest. Her body was in panic mode. She could feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins. Her hands shook with every breath and her vision was crystal clear. Sure, it would have been handy in a dangerous situation, but she needed to calm down to cure her breathing. So she closed her eyes and counted each breath; one, two, three. When she opened her eyes a few moments later, her breathing was back to normal.

A groan came from the brunette beside her. She turned to look at her and sent the girl a small smile, her lips shaking in time with her hands.

"Are you okay?" Sophia asked her, wondering if she felt as sore as she did. The girl nodded and brushed her long locks out of her face.

"I'm fine. That was crazy." Sophia nodded in agreement and watched as the girl unclipped her seatbelt and stood. Shakily, Sophia took her belt off and rose from her chair, prepared to follow the girl into the crowd of scared and confused kids. But, as soon as she stood up, pins and needles flared up in her legs and bum, screaming for her attention.

"Woah, my bum is so numb." The brunette girl turned to her and laughed at her comment. She followed the brunette to the door of the ship where the blonde girl, Clarke, was talking to a tall, dark haired boy about opening the doors.

"Bellamy?" The brunette called out as she moved to climb up a ladder to get a better vantage over the tops of the kid's heads. Her voice was thick with surprise and awe, her eyes wide and lips turning up in excitement. The tall boy turned to her, his face contorting in shock.

"Hey, that's Octavia Blake!" A guy with messy brown hair called from the back of the crowd. A wave of whispers rose up as they kids all turned to talk to each other. Sophia had heard rumors about the girl back when she wasn't in the lockup. On the ark, families aren't allowed to have more than one child. But, the Blake family somehow ended up having a second child who turned out to be Octavia. For the first few years of her life, she'd been hidden under the floor of their quarters, away from any prying eyes. Yet, somehow, the guards got wind of the second child and came and took her away. She'd been in lockup ever since.

"My god." The boy, Bellamy, said, a smile gracing his dark red lips. "Look how big you are," he said to Octavia. In a second, she came down from the ladder and had her arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders, happy to see him for the first time in a while.

When she let go, she looked at Bellamy's clothes, a frown pulling down her eyebrows. "What the hell are you wearing? A guards uniform?" Octavia's voice was tensed and confused, mimicked by her pretty features. Bellamy paused for a few moments. Sophia could see him thinking over what to say in his mind, his eyes widening slightly at the question.

"I borrowed it to get on the drop ship." Something about the way Bellamy said it made Sophia think that his words weren't completely true. How had he actually gotten the uniform? Knowing she was surrounded by a bunch of criminals, she probably didn't want to know. "Someone's got to keep an eye on you." He said jokingly to his sister, smiling fondly at her. The two embraced once again, before being interrupted by the blonde girl from the lockup.
