4 ~ Earth

Sophia wondered through the trees close to the dropship. Her hands were out at her sides, brushing against the trunks as she passed them. They felt strange, spiky but soft at the same time. They were all still slightly wet, no doubt from recent rainfall.

Everything looked so much more amazing than she could have imagined. There were ferns and all kinds of shrubbery that bunched around the bottoms of trees and in small clusters in between. Dead leaves littered the ground, crunching beneath her feet. They all ranged in colour; some were orange, others brown, some still slightly green. All of the colours seemed to flow into each other, creating the artwork that was earth's ecosystem.

Never the less, she was grateful for the jacket she'd been given. A slight chill hung in the air, clinging to the skin beneath her recycled clothes. She rubbed her arms with her cold hands, hoping to generate a little bit more heat. But, giving up quickly, she stopped and stared up at the dense layer of leaves above her.

The trees seemed to meet in the middle. Their leaves tangled with each other and creating a thick mat that blocked out most of the sunlight. Sophia watched as the leaves rustled in the wind, wiggling happily against each other.

She wished she'd been there all along.

Sophia screamed when two hands grabbed onto her forearms. She swung around, not expecting to have been grabbed. She hadn't wandered far, but the area was still void of the other kids. And yet, Bellamy Blake looked at her with a wicked gleam in his spectacular eyes. She was beginning to think he got a rise out of toying with her.

"Ah, shoelaces." He mumbled in greeting. Shoelaces? That had to be the worst nickname she'd ever heard.

"Wow. You come up with that one yourself?" Bellamy smirked and shook his head, crossing his muscular arms across his chest. Sophia watched him, overcome with the way his muscles moved with the simple action. She didn't realize she was staring until he coughed to get her attention. Her eyes flicked to his, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.

"You okay there, shoelaces?" Sophia could tell he knew she'd been staring. If possible, she blushed harder, turning her gaze from his to focus on the muscles in his chest that were pushing against his black shirt.

"Yep. Perfect." He huffed out a laugh. One of his arms moving to his face.

"My eyes are up here." Sophia flickered her eyes to his, seeing his hand motioning to them. She wanted to kick herself. How had she managed to embarrass herself in front of him twice in one day? And why on earth did she keep doing it?

"Obviously." She grumbled. She seemed to just be digging herself a bigger hole. Maybe, if she was lucky, she could crawl into it while he wasn't looking and bury herself. It would be less traumatic than whatever she kept doing to embarrass herself in front of the gorgeousness of Bellamy Blake. If only.

Sophia heard the beginnings of a commotion to her right. Voices were being raised. No doubt, it was her fellow delinquents arguing about something. She looked to Bellamy, not sure what to make of the situation. His face was serious now, void of any of the amused, laid back gleam from before. His eyes were glued to the direction the commotion was coming from, searching for the cause.

Without a second glance at her, he walked off to see what was going on. For a few moments, Sophia stood quietly, wondering whether she should go or not. On one hand, she knew she should try to stay out of trouble. But on the other, she knew that they could be discussing something important. Something that would benefit her if she knew what it was. Just... loudly.
