Chapter 20 (SHORT)

*EDWARD'S POINT OF VIEW*

I plaster a fake smile on, and make my way downstairs to find Nessie, Jacob, and the rest of the family. Nessie and Jake seem to be looking a lot happier than usual.

"You look happy!" Alice smiles, hands clasped together.

She must've seen why. Nessie and Jake smile at her. All the Cullen's are looking at them in anticipation.

"Well" Jacob begins, and signalises to Nessie.

"We're engaged!" She announces.

My mouth drops open. I mean, I'm happy for Nessie, but Jacob never asked of my consent. Me being Vampire or not, Nessie's my daughter, and I deserved to be asked.

"Congratulations!" We all say, and I decide to let it all go.

There are various hand shakes and chatter, but I stand there, still in shock. Jacob looks at me, quizzical.

"Edward" he begins, his voice a whisper. "I'm sorry"

I nod.

"You're in love" I begin. "I don't blame you"

Jake smiles a little, and then gets bombarded with hugs. I sigh. That's when my body hardens. Alice is having a vision. I see it in my head as I read hers. It's all of us, standing in this room. It can't be more than a minute away, as Jacob (a wolf, which Alice can't see) is in it. I'm standing there, looking gobsmacked. That's when Alice speaks up.

"Guys. Where's Rise?"

The vision ends with a snap, and then the chaos begins. I search frantically for her shaky breathing. Nowhere. I remember when Alice was talking to me about Rise only a few minutes ago, and the house was empty. How were we so stupid!? The vision continues to prove itself real, and Alice breaks the news.

"Rise is gone!" She warns.

All is silent as we listen for her. It doesn't need any more explanation. All of our faces show horror and despair- Rise is loose in the Earth. And she's looking for sweet revenge...
