A young female walked into the 'book emporium' today, presumably eleven or twelve years of age based on first greetings. She was a unique individual to come across-- there was a glimmer in her eyes that I haven't seen in quite a while. I offered my services and she cordially declined, until we struck up a conversation about the kinds of books she likes to read. Based on the glimpse of curiosity and wonder behind her eyes, I was quick to assume that this adolescent would list classic fairy tales or fables even. I soon learned that her favorite genre is 'Self Help'-- what kind of kid would list this as their first option? Let's just say.. I learned something new today. The juvenile generation is engrossed in the fact that humans are forever changing and have the capabilities of improving with the help of knowledge and effort. Young Leaders 3.0, Take Charge of Your Life, How To Win Friends & Influence People, this is just a snippet of what her reading life looks like.. The takeaway of today? Don't judge a person by their number of years on this Earth.

With thought,
