it's been 84 years since I last updated. I am v v sorry.
also this isn't spaced and I'm cringing bc of it, help pleaseMichael was repeatedly throwing a ball up in the air, catching it not once, twice, but five times before Luke walked in. He then threw the ball at Luke, who caught it and threw it right back at him, hitting him forcefully in the gut.
"Ow, did you have to throw it that hard?" Michael laughed, looking up. Luke had a veiled expression, his eyes greying. Michael sat up and made room for Luke, watching with concern as he sat down and leaned into Michael's shoulder, clinging to his arm and side.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong, love? What happened?" He asked, pulling Luke onto his lap, hugging him close. Luke just snuggled closer into his boyfriend's arms while burying his face in his chest, loving the vanilla-strawberry smell he had.
Luke eventually looked up at Michael, smiling ever so slightly as he saw concern etched into his features - furrowed brows, a frown, and narrowed eyes were present on his face.
"The media. They're calling us out again." Michael scoffed and shook his head, holding Luke closer as he reached for his phone to look it up.
His timeline was blowing up with hateful, encouraging, or nonchalant comments - more so hateful. There were pictures of the couple smiling at each other while holding hands, pecks on cheeks, and soft hugs all over - each was different. Some were titled with approving messages, like Liz and Joy and Anne Marie's, while the majority were disgusted. Calum and Ashton have yet to see all of the drama, but Michael was already defending himself on his own Twitter.Michael5SOS: look. it's my fucking life. I'm gay, I'm in a relationship with Luke. problem? take it up with me face to face. it's a free world, and right now, I'm in a free country. it's not like we're getting married. jesus, calm down.
Luke smiled when he saw Michael's tweet, knowing how much it bothered him that their band was getting hate because of their relationship. When they first came out to the public, they got bashed on by haters and reporters for it. Comedians made fun of the whole scenario, but the vast majority of them were taking their side.
"You know what? I wanna do something about this." Michael huffed, ideas forming in his head.
"Like what? Start a revolution?" Luke joked, but watching as Michael considered the idea, nodding.
"Yeah. Exactly that." Silence passed as the two thought about the idea, and after a while, Michael piped up again. "Okay, since we're having our largest show at Tinley, we should do something there."
"Like what?"
"I don't know, we'll see how it goes. Wing it."
"Great fucking plan, Michael."
"I know. I'm a genius."~
"How we feeling tonight, Tinley?" Ashton shouted to the buzzed crowed. They screamed back random things, possibly not even words - but they just took that as a good sign.
"I have a question for you all, and you gotta be honest," Calum started, earning a few i love you's and what's. "Do you ship Muke Clemmings?" Screams of yes and very few no's erupted from the crowd, but before Calum could speak again, a girl in the second row did.
"Disgusting! They're both disgusting!" She screamed, pointing at Michael and Luke. Other people started to follow her lead - not very many, but enough to be heard.
"Why are we so disgusting and disgraceful, then?" Michael snapped. "We're being ourselves."
"Anyways, I think this next song perfectly describes my reaction to all of this drama in the media. Here's Rejects for you!" Luke shouts, stealing the attention away from Michael and the girl.~
Michael threw his guitar pick at the crowd with a smile on his face, only to be pulled by the back of his shirt to the final bow. He sneakily slipped a hand around Luke's waist, Luke smiling at the action. Calum tapped his shoulder, causing Michael to glance at him. He mouthed words at him twice before he understood what he was saying; "do it." He smiled and nodded briefly, watching as the cameraman counted down.
3.
Michael nudged Luke, turning his head.
2.
He smiled at the boy, winking quickly. Luke rolled his eyes and quickly turned back to the camera.

Right before he took the picture, Michael pressed his lips to Luke's cheek, catching the blonde off guard. The flash went off before anyone could react, capturing the moment.
"Michael, really?" The cameraman groaned. He shrugged and started to walk off.
"Seems like a perfect picture to me," he said, looking at the photo. "I like it."
Ashton and Calum started laughing when they saw Luke's blush, Michael smiling cheekily at the boy.
"Carl, they're in a happy relationship. Don't be mean." Calum teased. Carl shook his head, yet the corners of his mouth were turned up in a smile as he saw Michael staring at Luke fondly.
"Do you think our homophobic manager would be pissed if I kissed you in the middle of the stage right now?" Michael mused, causing Luke to glare at him as he blushed even more profoundly.
"Probably." Ashton said.
"Let's do it, then." Wasting no time for Luke's answer - although he knew it wouldn't be a no - he dragged him backwards toward his own microphone, smiling as Luke shook his head, flipping the other half of the band off as the fans got quiet, confused.
"You're an idiot." Luke said, pushing his chest. Michael giggled into the microphone, catching the entire stadium's attention.
"I'm still your idiot, looser." Michael said, holding onto his hips.
"Dumbass." Luke countered.
"Asshole."
"Dick."
"Bitch." Luke burst out laughing, letting it echo throughout the stadium. Michael smiled wider at the sound, before silencing the giggly blonde with a sweet kiss, causing cheers to erupt from the crowd. Luke smiled, tangling his fingers in Michael's hair. They pulled away after a moment, seeing themselves on the large screens of the stadium.
Michael made eye contact with the girl in the second row that had called them disgusting, and flipped her off.
"Whatever your name is, it's our life, and we'll be the judges of how disgustingly cute we can be." Michael spoke, before dragging Luke off the stage, hands intertwined.
"Cute bastards." Ashton giggled, waving to the fans.~
A few hours later, they'd gone viral. Several people filmed the event, and the cameras had too. The bandmates themselves put together a small clip of the event, before posting it to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Tumblr.
Too late to back out.
Their manager had called numerous times, and on the seventh time his ringtone had been heard, Michael sighed and picked up.
"What the fuck, guys? You can't just fucking -"
"May I put this on speaker?" Michael asked, fighting back a laugh.
"Do it. I want you all to hear this."
Michael put their manager on speaker, letting him ramble on afterward.
"You can't just - why did you do that? Since when were you both even in a relationship? Why has nobody informed me of this?"
"Because you're a homophobe." Calum stated simply.
"I am not. But your fans --"
"Cheered us on." Luke interjected. Ashton nodded in agreement.
"I cannot have --"
"Can't or won't?" Michael snapped. "It's our band. We can easily get a new contract after this one ends. The world has changed from the seventies."
"I can ruin your career."
"We have our own label. We can make do with that."
Their manager stayed silent for a full minute, thinking.
"We're not going to let you ruin our perfectly normal, happy relationship because you think it's bad publicity, when in fact, the fans are ecstatic. We're happy, they're happy for us, and we're still on a tour. We're the only ones that would suffer anything, honestly." Luke said.
"He's right. You don't get bashed with hate messages and get told to loose more weight daily." Michael says. "You don't have to deal with society's rules and standards." They boys knew exactly why he was saying this; it was because he got the most hate, especially towards his weight and appearance.
"Let us be happy for once." Luke said. It was silent for a few moments, before he finally spoke up again.
"I swear to all God, if we loose sales because of this, you two are going back in that damn closet." Michael and Luke grinned to each other as the other two cheered, hugging and smiling.
"We won't. But we can't promise you that there won't be PDA." Michael said, hanging up before he could say anything. Luke blushed as the words registered, hitting Michael's shoulder as he winked.~
A month later, Michael was laying on his stomach in his and Luke's shared bed in the hotel, waiting for Luke to come back from grabbing lunch with Calum.
A body climbed on top of his and placed a paper bag next to his head, which smelt wonderful, and Michael immediately shut off his phone, grabbing the bag and turning to peck Luke on the cheek.
"You know the way to my heart, oh my god," Michael said, opening the bag to reveal Macca's. Luke laughed, shifting as Michael sat up against the headboard, eating his own food.
Michael let Luke get situated with his head on Michael's chubby stomach, ankles crossed, before tightening his legs around Luke's shoulders to keep him in place.
After Luke and Michael finished posting secret photos of each other as they ate, Luke shimmied up Michael's torso awkwardly, causing the platinum blond-haired boy to laugh his ass off. Luke glared at him, waiting until he calmed down to wipe the smile off his face with a kiss.
Michael moved his hands down Luke's sides to the small of his back underneath his shirt, reveling in the loud plop noise that rings throughout the room when Luke pulls back. Michael looked up at the beautiful blue eyes that Luke had, smiling as he saw them sparkle in the light. With everything he had now, how could life not be perfect?
Luke dove in for another kiss, and --
"Finally got you two on film! Yes! Jesus, the fans thought that you two haven't kissed since the stage incident -- What?" Calum yells with a phone in his hand, standing there for who knows how long. Luke jumped back and curled into Michael's arms, glaring at Calum. Michael laughed at the childish boy, figuring it was bound to happen eventually.
"You just ruined a perfectly calm moment, that's what." Luke says, blushing profoundly. Michael rolled his eyes and grazed his lips on the back of Luke's neck, smiling as he whined for Michael to stop, even though the only reason why was because he was on camera.
"No, you're cute when you're flustered like this." Michael mused, laughing as Luke huffed and crossed his arms like a child.
"Alright, alright - that's enough, Cal. Turn it off." Michael said, much to Luke's satisfaction. Calum obliged and turned off the video, posting it to their social media and leaving the room.
Michael started pressing feather-light kisses to Luke's neck, loving the giggles that he received out of it.
"Michael?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you think that maybe we did change the world?"
"No, but it's a start to something great."
