Laurence sat on the couch. He'd gotten himself clean and dry, but wouldn't do anything else. He sat staring into the void, gingerly turning the small cat carving in his hands. Dante and Garroth plopped themselves down on either side of him. Dante waved a hand into front of Laurence's face. No response. "Man, well that ship sank rather brutally..." Dante commented. Laurence still didn't respond, or even react to their presence. His mind was a tangle of emotions, he was angry, at himself for not knowing, and at Aura for leaving. He was sad, missing Aura despite she'd gone only three hours. "I'm an idiot." Laurence muttered, feeling empty. "Laurence, she'll return." Garroth said. "No... she won't." Said a new voice. Jade stepped out of the corner. "What I want to know is... WHAT IN THE NAME OF IRENE DID YOU DO TO HER!?!?" She shouted, her protective-older-sister-side coming out. "It's complicated..." Laurence muttered. "Tell. Me." Jade demanded. "Fine..." Laurence finally gave in.

Aura came to, feeling stiff and tired. Gosh, why do I always get myself into this kind of thing... She thought. Aura realized, that something warm was wrapped around her shoulders. She opened her eyes, to find herself under a small stone overhang, which a crackling fire rested in the middle. She sat up, and looked around. Aura jumped when she realized a man was sitting near her. "KYA!!" She screamed. The man simply looked at her, then back down to the rabbit he was skinning. "W-Who are you!?" Aura asked. "Aaron." He answered simply. "Wait why am I here?! What did you do to me?!" She asked again. "You were passed out in the river. If you saw a tiny, injured meif'wa would you help them? That's what I thought." Aaron said. Aura seemed to just then realize... he had no shirt on. Nothing was covering his waist up. Then, Aura realized the large black jacket around her shoulders. Her face seemed to glow red. "Heh, so anyways... who are you?" Aaron asked. "I-I'm Aura... thank you for helping me..." She answered. "Eh, no problem. Any friend of Aphmau's is a friend of mine." Aaron said, as if nothing. "Wait. You know Aphmau? You know ME?" Aura exclaimed. "Yeah, she's told me about you... and how you revived her son. Honestly, I didn't know it was possible to do that, even with Magicks." Aaron said. "So... thanks for the chat, but I really need to be leaving now..." Aura said, struggling to stand up. "Oh, really?" Aaron said. He gave her a firm tap on the keg and she fell back down.

"Not so rough-and-ready now, are we?" He smirked. "I hate you." Aura muttered. And that is how Aura found a safe hiding place, from the prying eyes, and searching hands. Aura stayed with Aaron, and they became almost siblings. Aaron saw Aura as a little sister over time. They compared life-stories, and grieved their losses together. Aaron even taught Aura how he lived off of the land. Edible plants, and small game animals were their main diet. One day, while Aura was out hunting, a gleam of gold on the horizon caught Aaron's grey eye. As it came closer he realized... it was Raven, Garroth's wyvern friend. The small dragon flew overhead for a second, then descended to Aaron's side. Raven carried a roll of parchment, and dropped it at Aaron's feet. He gingerly bent down, and unrolled the crackling paper.

Dear Aaron, It's been a while! I wish I was writing for you, but unfortunately, that's not the case. Our friend Aura has been missing for six months! If you've seen her, please tell me. Laurence is basically the empty shell of himself. Just please. You're our last hope. Sincerely, Aphmau

Aaron picked up his quill and another piece of paper, and wrote a reply.

It's no problem. She's here with me. But, don't come charging out here. Aura needs time. Aura will return soon, I promise. Maybe, I can talk her into it tonight. Come visit me again sometime, Aph. Anyways, don't tell Laurence, she's out here. Sincerely, Aaron
