• Chapter 37•

I turn around. And for a moment, time stopped. It's as if I'm going through a whirlwind of moments in my life and I'm just noticing how fast I'm going, with no direction. For a moment, I notice how empty all of it feels. But as soon as that moment ended, I feel as though I am suddenly connected to every inch of myself with the world around me.

I truly feel alive. I have no idea what happened, but something inside of me burst, shivers went all over my body, electrifying every piece of me, and in that moment I have never been so sure of what my purpose truly is. I could feel my eyes glowing purple, all that power.

Seeing all their faces, it's as if a part of me suddenly burst with energy, such pure energy that gave me so much power. Even though it feels like the most magnificent source of happiness, along with it came so much pain and suffering following.

I couldn't understand those emotions that seeped into me, all pouring so quickly, all in that one moment. And exactly when that moment ended, I was thrown back into the passing time, as if cold water was splashed all over me, pulling me back to the harsh reality.

"Please, save us!" The sentence keeps echoing in my mind. So desperate, so hurt, so... Lost.

I blink, frozen in my stance, my eyes searching for the one who spoke. Until they finally land on her. Bound to chains, with dirt covering her face and almost shadowing her in the darkroom, she lay tiredly on the floor, hugging a young boy, trying to protect him in her arms.

A chain clinging is heard, and I turn my gaze around to where the sound came from. , a young man that looks like he could be in his early twenties was eyeing me back with such intensity, that I had to turn my gaze away until I found the young girl, sleeping on the floor ever so peacefully, with bruises and wounds covering her beautiful face, and her lifeless body so pale, laying on the cold floor, leaving a pool of dark red liquid.

I turn my gaze again, to yet another man. The old man is laying sprawled on the floor, almost bone-thin, with grey hair that is almost looking black from all the dirt, a hand laying on his abdomen, in an attempt to cover his open wound.

Hot tears slide down my cheeks and for a second, I couldn't breathe. I was so lost in the pain I was encased in. My gaze returned to the woman holding her child, and her pleading eyes left me completely wrecked.

"Emily?" Nikola's voice brings me back to my senses, and reality crashes back in my mind full force, and I feel the glow in my eyes fade away to my dull green ones.

Recognition sparks on the woman's face, and in a split second, she is bowing to me on the floor, while still holding her child, that is now covered by her long dirty blond hair. Quickly following, the rest of the chain-bound prisoners imitated her actions, even the wounded old man was bowing to me. And I have never felt so ashamed in my whole life.

"By the will of mother nature..." Nikola mutters quietly as he tries to understand what is going on. I look at him with shocked eyes and back at the people, and finally manage to react to what's happening.

"Oh, my goddess! Please don't, no" I eye them all, motioning with my hands for them to stand up again, all while running up to the old man. I help him lay back on the ground, trying to attend his wound, in hopes of saving him.

Nikola follows me and examines the wound himself. It's a deep wound, probably caused by claws, demon werewolf claws. The poison must be in his system already, it's almost impossible to save him. But I must do something. I couldn't let this man die on my watch and just thinking about his death made me cry in pain.
