Yay! A chapter!
Chapter 20
I wake up to the sunlight shining through my bedroom window. I rub my eyes and yawn, as I stand up and look out the window. The sun is up in the clear blue sky, the birds are chirping, the squirrels are climbing the trees and the people are roaming the busy streets of the town happily from afar. It looks like a good day. I glance at the clock and notice it's still pretty early.
Would you look at that? I woke up early. Mom would be proud. A small smile rests on my face. I remember every time I used to wake up early, I would bolt through my parents room and jump on their bed until they woke up. Mom would be happy that I'm waking up early like a normal child, so she would make me breakfast. She would make me chocolate chip pancakes.
A tear escapes my eyes as I remember how happy we were. Me, Mike, mom and dad. We were the perfect family. Until Mike died. I remember when me, grandpa and Raph found them bleeding in the forest clearing. The white flowers were covered with the dark red liquid. It was an awful sight to see. My family dead on the floor, and it's my own fault.
Come on, Em. It wasn't your fault. Don't let Michael get into your head. Now, get up and get ready, we have a long day today! Sophia says, trying to cheer me up.
Right... We have training today. A lot of training.
I stand up and walk to my bathroom. I take a shower, brush my teeth and get out of the bathroom. I go to my closet and open the doors, hoping I'll be greeted with some random shirt and workout pants that'll be okay to choose. But a frown replaces my smile as I see nothing that catches my eyes. I have trouble choosing clothes. Which explains why I waste about twenty minutes of my morning each day.
In the end, I settle with a plain purple t-shirt and workout shorts with black running shoes. I'm not in the mood to put on any sort of makeup, since I had to rub my face off yesterday to remove all the makeup Pen put on my face. I brush my hair and tie it in a high ponytail and with that I walk downstairs to the kitchen to eat breakfast. I enter the kitchen and see everybody already seated eating breakfast happily.
Our plan for today is for me to continue training on my telepathy for the morning, then start my fighting lessons with Liam after noon. Raph said he'll come later this week, during the weekend, which is in two days, and he's going to train me too when Liam is busy. I'm not really excited to train, since I feel so tired but I have to. For my pack.
''So are you guys ready?'' I ask Alysha and Thomas, as I munch on my toast with butter and strawberry jam.
''Yeah. Just let me finish my tea and we're good to go'' Aly says while Tom just nods.
A few minutes later, we head to the backyard which became our training field. It's always empty and there's big space, so we've decided to make good use of it. Tom brought with him a book that is thick and seems heavy and I'm curious as to why he brought a book. He didn't strike me as the reading type.
''What's the book for?'' I ask as we reach the backyard.
''This book'' He says as he lifts up the book in his hand ''Is the The History of the Gifts. It contains records of every gift that has ever been possessed by any gifted all over the world. And it's made from magic, so every time a new gift is found or a new ability is mastered. It goes straight to the book'' Tom explains.
For a book containing history, it sure looked new. It's a white book with silver designs, that seem to sparkle under the light. Really pretty and fancy.
''We figured it'll be a good start for you. Telepathy has been possessed by many before you, so hopefully this will be helpful in case we weren't here to help you'' Aly says.
