In a parallel world, Rose Marion Tyler stood in a field of the dead. Most of them had gone years ago, just ashes in the wind, but some had remained. A battered, grieving half. All gone now. This wasn't how she'd pictured the end, but maybe it was always going to be this way. The Devil of Kroptor had been right after all. And this was the battle she was destined to die in.

Perhaps she ought to be more optimistic, to stand and fight and rail against a universe that wanted her to slip away quietly, but in truth, she didn't have the strength. Not anymore. The battle had been hard and long and, in the end, pointless. Thanos had the stones, all over again. And this time, he'd snapped the whole universe away. Rose was just the last light to go out.

She wondered absently how it would happen. Would it be the cold? The lack of oxygen? Or would the gaping wound in her stomach bleed her dry? The possibilities were infinite, and infinitely depressing.

She cried out in pain, falling to her knees. Her chest was tightening, her heart pounding like a drum. There was nothing she could do, she knew that. All she could hope was that her siblings would avoid the same fate. With one last, shaking breath, she collapsed to the ground, the last remnant of a universe gone silent.
