Chapter 21

JEN'S POV

  I woke up the next morning to see my mom and Justin sitting there. "You're finally up," Justin said.

  "Yeah, what time is it?"

  "12:00."

  "Wow I slept that late?"

  "Yes, but you didn't go to bed until one in the morning," my mom said.

  "Oh yeah," I said remembering last night.

  "Want some breakfast, Shawty?"

  "Sure." Then he walked out of the room to get me some breakfast.

  "How are you feeling?"

  "Tired," I told my mom.

  "That's normal."

  Justin came back in and handed me a plate of French toast. "Here you go, I know it's your favorite."

  "You're right."

  "I know." He smirked. Jeez his smirks kill me.

  I sat there eating my French toast when I looked up and Justin had tears in his eyes. "Justin, what's wrong?" I asked while trying to sit up.

  "Lay down, you're too weak to sit up," he told me.

  "I will when you answer my question." Was that too harsh? I mean he was probably crying because I'm sitting in a hospital bed right now. "Justin what's wrong? Please tell me," I said giving him puppy dog eyes.

  "I just feel like it's my fault that you're in here." I layed back down.

  "I think you two need some time to be alone," my mom said while walking out of the room and into the hallway.

  "After we kissed, that's when you got sick. What if there was bacteria in my mouth that made you get sick?"

  "justin it's not your fault and you know it. There were hundreds of people at that hockey game, I could've gotten sick from anyone. So stop beating yourself up."

  "I guess you have a point. So what are you going to do when school starts up again?"

  I hadn't even thought about that yet and school starts again in three days. "Hopefully I'll be out by then. But if not..." I trailed off.

  "if not, I'll come see you whenever I have any extra time. After school, weekends, even at three in the morning. 'Cause I'd walk a thousand miles just to see you smile. When you smile, I smile."

  "And when you smile, I smile." I repeated smiling.

  "There's the Jen I know." I giggled.
