Part Ten.

Aiden age 13.

"Mom! I got a stain on my shirt today; they had spaghetti for lunch. Can you get it out?" Lucas yelled as he came in the front door.

"Toss it in the washing machine and I'll get it." She called from upstairs.

Lucas dropped his backpack at the bottom of the steps and took off his tie. He glanced into the living room and stopped when he saw me. "What are you doing here?"

I took a deep breath. "We need to talk."

The magazines on the coffee table were so neatly organized. The small pot of flowers on the end table were alive and looking brand new. The pictures on the wall showed happy faces and happy people and happy memories. What if all of that was taken from me? They were my family, sure, but I was part of their life now. Just like Lucas was part of mine. To lose that...

He took a step back and walked over to sit on the couch beside me. "You're not moving, are you?"

I shook my head.

"Then what? What's wrong?"

"I've been thinking and... I don't know if I should tell you."

"We tell each other everything, Aid. You've seen me naked even."

"It's more complicated than that."

"Big words. This must be serious."

I sighed and stared down at my hands in my lap.

"Aiden, talk to me. There's nothing you can't tell me."

"I think I might be gay."

"There's nothing wrong with that, Aiden. Is that what you were so afraid to tell me?"

"It's... I'm falling for you."

Lucas stared at me, his eyes slightly narrowed. He said nothing but his posture spoke for him. I knew he was thinking something but I couldn't tell if it was good or not.

Before I could stop him, he leaned close to me and pressed his lips against mine, his hands holding my face so I couldn't move away.

My eyes widened in shock. Was he really kissing me? It was like he was giving me exactly what I wanted but more. I couldn't believe it.

His lips were strong and sure, exactly how Lucas was. Mine were just flabby, pathetic things. Like me.

Lucas pulled back and his eyes were wide too. Only I didn't know why.

"Oh, my gosh." He whispered, his hands absentmindedly falling to his lap.

"Why did you kiss me?"

He ran his fingers through his hair before he wrapped his arms around his middle, looking scared.

"Lucas?"

"Mom!" He yelled. He jumped to his feet and started pacing. I couldn't be sure but it looked like he was shaking. He bit his lower lip.

"Lucas, is everything okay?" His mom asked, standing behind the couch.

I told him. I mouthed to her, making sure Lucas couldn't see me do it. Then he kissed me.

"Lucas, have a seat."

"I can't... I can't."

"Lucas," His mom grabbed his arms and forced him to look at her. "Talk to me."

"I kissed Aiden."

"And?"

"And what?"

"What are you feeling?"

"I'm scared. I'm freaked out. I..."

"Why, sweetie?"

"Mom,I... I liked it."
