Part Two
Aiden age 10.
"Aiden, your dad's outside. Why don't you go spend some time with him?" Mom said.
I shook my head and finished drawing the hair onto the princess.
"He wants to spend time with you."
"Then why doesn't he come ask me himself?"
Mom sighed and sat down beside me at the table. "Do you not want to spend time with him?"
"It's always to hang out outside or in the garage or something and I just don't like doing that." I said, shrugging.
She brushed my hair back from my face. "Maybe you two should talk."
I looked up at her. "About what?"
"Well your dad thinks that you don't like him."
"Really?"
She nodded. "If he knew it was what you two did, maybe he'd suggest something else. Something you like to do."
"I doubt he'd like it."
"It won't hurt to ask."
I stared down at my picture. My dad wouldn't understand. He wanted to throw some ball around or work on some project he assigned us or mow the grass. It was all manly stuff. Stuff I thought was stupid. Would he have felt that way about my action figures or drawings or video games?
Someone knocked on the door and mom got to her feet.
"Hi, I'm Emily. This is my son, Lucas. We just moved in next door and wanted to introduce ourselves to the neighbors."
"Aiden, come here." Momcalled.
