Amy was sitting at her computer and many screens (think Death Note) when Morpheus and Neo entered the aircraft. She turned around with an indifferent look, but to be polite, she walked over to see what was going on.
"This is my ship, the Nebuchadnezzar. It's a hovercraft. This is the main deck. This is the core where we broadcast our pirate signal and hack into the Matrix," Morpheus was saying. "Most of my crew you already know. This is Apoc, Switch, and Cypher.The one's you don't know, Tank and his big brother, Dozer. The little one behind you is Mouse. And the girl there is Amy. You wanted to know what the Matrix is Neo? Trinity.... Try to relax. This will feel a little weird."
Morpheus and Neo went into the Construct, leaving the rest of the crew.
"So, what do you guys think of him?" Dozer asked, to break the silence that had overcome them.
"I don't know, but Trinity likes him," Tank joked. This brought light laughter from everyone except Amy. "What about you, Ellie?"
"He's kinda... Meh," Amy replied shrugging her shoulders.
"That's all you can say? 'Meh?' After Morpheus has been looking for him for the longest time?" Switch interrogated.
"Well, I'm sorry that I didn't give you the answer you expected. But what am I supposed to say?" Amy back-sassed. "I'd rather not lie."
She walked back to her desk without a word to anyone. Everyone else walked somewhere else to keep talking; all but one.
Mouse's eyes lingered on Amy as if in a trance. For a year since she joined, Mouse couldn't get her out of his mind. There was something about the moody girl that caught his attention. He didn't know anything about Amy, but one day, the feelings just started to develop.
