Brace yourselves for cringey high school freshman me writing romance
Mouse appeared in the Matrix, specifically in Hotel Lafayette. He quickly ran out of the hotel and into the street. He was greeted by the sight of dead army soldiers, bullet shells, and blood. Mouse was trembling as he walked. Where was Amy?
In the distance, Mouse could see a wide pond of crimson. The puddle grew larger by the second, then it stopped. There was a figure laying off to the side of the blood. Mouse felt his heart stop when he realized that the figure was Amy. There was blood streaming from her arm and side. Amy's skin was deathly pale and she was barely breathing. Mouse ran over and kneeled next to her unconscious body.
He put his hand against Amy's face, but flinched when he felt how cold her skin was.
"Amy," Mouse called, shaking her gently. "Amy, wake up." (okay smart one she's clearly unconscious so this isn't gonna work). When he got no response, Mouse's breathing and heartbeat became rushed.
"Amy, please," Mouse choked. He removed his shades to really look at her. Amy looked so peaceful, even near death, and that was the worst part. Mouse's eyes filled with tears. When he blinked, the tears fell. They hit Amy's face and rolled off.
"Amy, wake up. Y-you can't leave me," Mouse cried, holding her close to him. "I love you, Amy. I need you; please, don't go."
Mouse cried into Amy's neck while hugging her. He just couldn't comprehend the fact that he lost the love of his life. Compared to his work (that he was devoted to), Amy was of so much more importance. Mouse would always space out thinking about and staring at her. Now what? Whenever he daydreams, would Amy just be a painful memory?
Mouse pulled back to look at her again. Often he had thought of how cute Amy probably was when she was asleep. She really was adorable, Mouse was thinking, but he realized that he was only able to make this observation because he got there in time to see her die. This was Mouse's worst nightmare coming to life. How ironic; his worst nightmare comes to life when his fondest dream dies. Life at the Neb simply wouldn't be the same now that-
"M-Mouse?"
He looked up to see Amy's eyes open. Relief and ecstasy overcame Mouse when he saw Amy staring at him.
"Amy..." Mouse moved her hair and held her face, then hugged her again. Amy tried to take deep breaths, but it was hard when being around Mouse caused her heart to race.
Then, the phone from the call box started to ring.
Mouse pulled Amy up as he stood. Amy's head was spinning due to the blood loss. Mouse helped her walk to the phone. Right before Mouse was about to open the door, he felt Amy pull on his arm, stopping him from walking.
"Are you okay?" Mouse worried, turning to face her.
"Yeah, I just wanted to thank you," Amy said shyly.
"For what?" Mouse wondered.
"You saved me. I was about to completely shut down, but then I heard your voice," Amy blushed.
"I guess I found the right time to tell you," Mouse smiled.
"Yeah," Amy smiled a bit. She walked closer to Mouse. Amy caught Mouse off guard by pressing her soft lips against his. Mouse was surprised, but didn't hesitate to wrap his arms around her and kiss her back. Amy pushed Mouse back a bit so that he was leaning against the call box. Mouse's hands moved up to Amy's back, pulling her closer.
"We should go back," Mouse said against Amy's lips.
"Mmm hmm," she merely responded before kissing him again. Mouse's fingers tangled into Amy's hair when he pulled her against him. The phone continued to ring behind them, but it was ignored. Amy reached over and slowly opened the door to the call box. Mouse used this to his advantage by roughly pushing Amy against the inside wall and kissing her in that same way. Amy wrapped her arms around Mouse's neck and stood on her toes a bit.
"You persistent little girl," Mouse scolded in a way that was either 'scary or really, freaking sexy.' (Danisnotonfire)
"Well, we can't do this in the Neb," Amy reasoned.
"True," Mouse agreed. He pressed his lips against hers again. He had his hands on Amy's waist, still pinning her against the wall. Amy's hands were on Mouse's neck, pulling him so close that there was no distance between them. Mouse pushed Amy up against the wall, then pulled back for a breath. Amy held his face in her hands and looked down into his eyes.
"And you're calling me persistent?" Amy asked skeptically, "We should head back." Mouse set Amy down, and they walked two steps over to the phone.
"After you," Amy decided.
"Promise me that you'll be right behind me. That's what you said last time, and..." Mouse pleaded holding her arms.
"Don't worry, Mouse," Amy reassured, but upon seeing his 'still-doubtful' face. "What? You don't trust me?" She used his own words against him.
"It's not that-" He responded the same way that she had earlier.
"Then go ahead," Amy commanded. Mouse picked up the phone and put it to his ear, then vanished. In a few seconds, the phone rang for Amy. She didn't think twice before answering it.
