~Chapter Eight~
'Rohan is Mine!'
Confronted with White Wizard, the blinding light shrouded him like a cloak of the sun resting on his shoulders. Aragorn had demanded the wizard to show himself. Answering the request, the light faded away, revealing a man they know so well. Gandalf, dressed in all white like a holy vision. Medlinya's eyes welled up in overjoyed tears, all the four trackers were astounded that he stood in front of them.
Legolas, Medlinya, and Gimli respectfully kneel in front of the wizard, "It cannot be. You fell." the Ranger whispered in disbelief lowering to the ground as well.
"Through fire and water." the living wizard agreed with a nod to Aragorn. "From the lowest dungeon to the highest peak, I fought with Balrog of Morgoth. Until at last, I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside. Darkness took me. And I stayed out of thought and time. Stars wheeled overhead and everyday was as long as a life-age of the earth. But it was not the end. I felt life in me again. I've been sent back until my task is done." The wizard explained.
"Gandalf!" Aragorn pronounced, still overwhelmed of the presence of the wizard.
"Gandalf?" the wizard asked, confused than remembrance flickered in his blue eyes, "Yes... That's what they used to call me, Gandalf the Grey. That was my name." The wizard smiled brighter than his light before.
"Gandalf!" Gimli gasped still in wonder of the sight of the wizard.
The White Wizard's eyes twinkled like stars, "I am Gandalf the White." Aragorn grinned at the new title, "And I come back to you now at the turn of the tide."
Overcome with euphoria, Medlinya sprinted to the White Wizard tackled him with a hug. Gandalf chuckled heartily and returned the hug to the she-elf, "The sun warms my heart to see you again, Medlinya, especially with no cloak."
The she-elf smiled up at the wizards, "It is good to see you alive, Cheater of Death."
Gandalf grinned and chortled at the she-elf's response. His blue eyes shimmered with joy, "Yes... I have definitely missed your company, young one."
With that, the White Wizard lead the four group through the forest after Medlinya and Aragorn gathered their weapons from the forest floor. Gandalf now wore a grey cloak over his white robes, "One stage of your journey is over, another begins. War has come to Rohan. We must ride to Edoras with all speed."
The company of five exit Fangorn Forest into an surrounding land of lush green hills, plains, and meadows. Gandalf whistles piercingly. An answering neigh echoes over the rolling mounds of earth. A white horse appears from the plain, answering Gandalf's whistle, "That is one of the Mearas, unless my eyes are cheated by some spell." Legolas stated in awe.
The horse trots around to stop in front of Gandalf, "Shadowfax." Hearing that name, Gimli bows to the horse. "He's the lord of all horses and he's been my friend many dangers."
Aragorn whistles for Arod and Hasufel. The two horses come thundering over the hills towards the company. "Gimli you ride with me." the Ranger ordered. The two Elves' faces simultaneously contort in confusion, causing the Ranger to chuckle. Medlinya softly shrugged and mounted onto Arod, waiting for Legolas to climb in front of her.
Legolas stood there, studying Aragorn carefully. When Medlinya had her back turned, the Ranger winked down on the Elf from his horse with Gimli behind him. A smirk appeared on the blonde Elf's and bowed his head quickly. Quickly, Legolas hopped onto Arod in front of the she-elf.
