***Gale's POV***

Katniss and Finnick drive off, but I pay no attention to that now. The only thing I focus on is the blood gushing out of my nose. Annie went inside to get an ice pack and Delly is using the sleeve of her shirt to lightly pay the blood away. I hope it doesn't stain. In a few minutes, Annie comes back with the ice. I'm afraid my nose could be broken, but it's probably only bruised. I hold the ice to my nose, knowing I will have a black eye from this later on. I stand up, leaving the itchy grass.
"I think I should probably go home." I say to no one in particular.
"I think you should too." Annie says. She doesn't sound to happy.
"Shouldn't I be the angry one here? I am the one that got punched."
"You are also the one who knew the truth and let Peeta take the blame." She snaps.
"I just found out a few weeks ago!" I yell, angry enough about the punch and now dealing with her.
"And you should have said something sooner."
"Yes because I had so many opportunities to bring it up." I say sarcastically.
"You did!"
"And why would I bring something like that up to her after everything else Mellark put her through? After everything she has said about him?" I ask her, throwing the ice on the grass.
"You just can't except that Peeta made her happy. And you are the one that wanted to do that. But you couldn't!" She exclaims at me. I have no words. It's not true, because I wouldn't want to see Katniss sad ever. And I only want what is going to make her happy, even if I'm not it, but I have no words. Annie shoots me glare before walking into the house. I sigh in frustration. Why am I getting so much blame for this? I only just found out isn't i? Didn't i do the right thing not saying anything to her? It was I only trying to protect myself. To protect myself from getting on Katniss's bad side? I guess It could have been either one. I sink down to the ground, the back of my legs resting on my heels while I watch the clouds turn grey.
"I agree with you." I hear a voice behind me. Of course it will be Delly.
"Oh?"
"Yeah. I mean, Kat had a lot on her plate at the moment. She didn't need the guilt of something that happened in her childhood added on." She comes over, sitting beside my. I finally allow myself to sit next to her, my legs out I front Of me.
"I don't like seeing her hurt." I say looking at the ground.
"I know. I don't either. None of us do. You were just protecting her." She says. Her hair flies behind her as a gust of cool air hits us. She shivers, obviously cold in only a sweater. I take off my jacket and put it around her.
"Thanks." She says quietly.
"No problem." I say.
"You are a good friend Gale. Annie and Kat are just so close that I think whatever you say at the moment will irritate her. Let her calm down a bit." Delly suggests. I don't like yelling at people. Especially Annie because she is so soft and innocent. It's like yelling at a toddler.
"She is crazy." I half whisper half laugh. Delly giggles.
"Only when it comes to her friends." Delly's voice sounds sweet and understanding. Almost like she knows what to do in these situations. She knows exactly what to say. She always has. I think to myself. It's funny. I always told myself how much I liked Katniss, but Delly had always been the one to listen to me. To get me through hard things like my own dad dying, even though Katniss had the experience, Delly comforted me. Helped me when I needed it most. She is always great with advice even though she has had none of the experiences I have.
And she is pretty.
Her long her behind her shoulders as the wind pushes it back, not dark like Katniss's but still pretty. Her face is smooth, her eyes sparkle, and her lips catch my attention. What I wouldn't give to place mine on them right now. I think to myself. Stop that! She couldn't like you. I mean I don't know that for a fact but it seems unlikely. Right? The only way to know is to find out. I think. She turns towards me and I find my chance. I lean in, pressing my mouth to hers, and placing my hand on her cheek. She seems startled at first, and I should expect that, but after a few seconds she does the unexpected. She kisses me back. I pull away though, only becomes I am shocked. Did she only do that because she didn't want to make me feel hurt? Or did she actually want to kiss me? Do I actually have a chance with one of my closest friends? I'm so confused.
"You don't know how long I have waited for you to do that, and then you pull away." She says laughing. Did I hear right?
"Wait, you like me?" I ask.
"Yes! And I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you like me , right?" She asks. Yes. Of course I like her. I have no chance with Katniss, and Delly actually likes me back. Katniss only wants to be friends, but Delly wants more. I nod my head.
"Correct." I say before leaning in once more.
