"Devin!" I yell. I rush out the car and tightly hug him. "I'm so so so sorry, I'll never hurt you again. I trust you." I mumble in his chest.

"Sudden change of heart I see." He kisses my forehead. "Do you have the rock?" He asks with a serious tone.

"Oh um yea, we were just about to throw it in the pond." I reach in my pocket to give it to him but a question makes me stop. "Where's Daniel?" I look behind him but don't see anyone.

"Daniel?"

"You know, your friend, the guy that was looking through the book you with this morning."

"Ohhhhh. Yea Daniel, he went to the store." He points in a direction.

"Wait what? Why would he go to the store? Well go get him, we're about to finally end this." I say excitedly.

"Oh um, Daniel's busy, let's just go, he'll meet us up later." He tries to take my hand but I snatch it away.

"Yo we can't just leave him. When we throw the rock in there's no way out for him." I explain to Devin. "Why are you acting so weird?"

"Look I'm fine, Daniel's fine. Let's hurry before time runs out."

"What time? Devin just go get Daniel and we can leave, stop wasting time." I try not to yell but he's frustrating me.

"Condy, here let me hold the rock while you get Daniel." He reached for my pocket but I back away.

"I don't even know where he is. Why do you even want the rock so bad? It's going to the same place."

"I just want to see it." He reaches for my pocket again.

'But let me promise you this, the Devin you met recently is not the Devin you knew before.'

Javier's grandpa's voice repeats in my head. That's what he meant! This isn't Devin at all. I can't believe I hugged him. All of a sudden he falls to the floor and I see Javier holding a baseball bat.

"I can expl-"

"You don't need to. I know that wasn't really Devin. Let's just get out of here before he wakes up." We rush into the car and swerve around his unconscious body.

"Aye what was all that?" Kevin asks.

"That wasn't really Devin, it was the crazy fake Devin." I quickly tell him.

"Ok that makes much more sense." He nods and leans back in his seat.

~~~~~~~~~~
"Eight o'clock, let's go." We run out the car. "What about the book? It'll be ruined and soaked." I tell them.
"It's better than having the secrets available for anyone else." Javier says.
"What about everyone else? They all lost their concious and are just gonna stay there forever."
"We can't worry about that now. What if evil Devin catches up?" Kevin puts a hand on my shoulder then scans his surroundings.
"Ok, let's go." We all hold hands and jump. Except I get left behind, I get pulled behind. The book floats to the bottom. I slowly turn around and see Devin's face, but I know it's not him. His eyes are menacing and his stare murderous.
"Just hand over the rock and you don't get hurt." He says through gritted teeth.
"I-I don't have it." I lie.
"Where is it?" I try to focus my thoughts and think of a way through this. "Tick tock." Wait, if you're an Cherismo and try to go through, you're done, for good. But what is this Devin?
"W-With Daniel. I'll text him and tell him to bring it."
"Fine." He lets me go almost shoving me.
Me: Daniel, is there anything about the other Devin?
Daniel: The other Devin????
Me: Well there's actually two Devins, the crazy one and the normal one.
Daniel: OK hold on, I'm looking through the book.
Me: Hurry please!!
After a few minutes he finally starts typing.
Daniel: IDK what this Seautons or whatever this is but all it says is that any duplicates still count as Cherismos because of the matter they're made of.
Me: Thank you so much, that's all I needed to know.
"He has the rock." I tell him.
"Where?"
"He's on the other side of the pond." He quickly dives in and dissapears in the crystal clear water. All the stress finally relieves from me. He's gone. For good.
