"If I read correctly and my mind isn't just tricking me out of hope, we can go to the dream world basically anytime me want. But once you get that rock and seal the path, no way back." Kevin says.
"I just got the chills, I don't know if this is a good idea.".
"Of course it is, KevieKev said it. Time passes twice as fast tho. It's one thirty, so make sure you don't spend more than four hours and fifteen minutes there. Here, take my watch, it'll adjust to the time there."
"Or I can use my phone." I laugh.
"Yea, but the whole watch idea is way cooler." He puts it on my wrist.
"Wait, but you're coming with me, right?"
"Coming with you to see a guy and third wheel, I don't think so."
"Come on, I don't wanna go alone. Please just come with me. What if you find yourself a girl there?" He rolls his eyes.
"Fine, I'll go. But if you guys start to get all touchy I'm leaving. Anyways," He puts the book back on his lap. "to get there we just go through that pond." He closes it.
"But we also have to be looking for the rock, you know to make progress." We jog down the stairs.
"Why are you telling me like I'm the one going to be distracted, I'm third wheeling." We head out and I laugh. "Are you scared?" He asks when we're near the bench.
"Definitely. Are you?"
"Of course, at least you've been here before."
"Well I can guarantee this will be an experience of a lifetime." We stand in front of the pond. "Ready?" I ask.
"Ready." He takes my hand. We jump in and I start swimming the familiar path I've done a few times before. The lights gets closer and I swim as fast as I can through the tunnel. Unexpectedly I start to lose my breathe. Finally we both pop up at the top and are gasping for air on the side of the pond. "You never told me it was this long."
"It usually isn't." He helps me out. "Wait, I'm wet."
"I mean yea, you just swam through a pond."
"I know but everything comes out dry, well it usually does. W-What does this mean?"
"I don't know it must be in Daniel's book. I would give him a call," He pulls out his phone from his pocket. "but it's soaked." I try to stay calm and not panick. "Ok, how about we buy some rice and focus on getting the rock?"
"Ok you're right, the sooner we get the rock, the sooner we leave." I start walking through the cave and he follows me.
"Better yet, to get more things done, let's just go to that guy Javier's house and use his rice. While my phone is draining you can catch up and we can look for the rock." He nudges my arm.
"I guess so." I smile to myself. Low-key pretty excited to see Javier. He was cool.
"Lead the way." Kevin says once we exit the cave. I walk across the beach and into the city. Soon enough I realize I don't know where the rock is, neither Javier's house. I wish I could call him but my phone needs a long sit in rice.
The café! He must be there. I try to remember the way there but nothing comes to mind. A familiar old man sitting on a bench catches my eye. He'd probably know where it is.
"Excuse me, do you know where the café is?"
"Ah, so we meet again?" He smiles.
"Oh, that's right, last time I asked where the dock was." He nods.
"The café, down the block, cross the street, and turn left."
"Thank you have a nice day."
"Good luck." What he says sticks in mind like glue. Why would he say good luck if I'm just going to a café? Maybe it's just a thing here, I brush it off. The door rings when I open it. The first person I make eye contact with is Javier.
