Kara's POV

"Detention. Really? For being late. Honestly sir you do know that you are only torturing yourself right?" I said with a slight smirk on my face to my Geometry teacher , Mr. Davis. He looked back at me as if I he didn't hear me correctly. So I said "If you like I can repeat myself an-" He cut me off by saying

"Ms.Jones you know I don't take to kindly to disrespect so that's two days. Tuesday and Thursday I'll see you from 3pm until 4:15pm."

I was outraged and about to lose it just as my best friend Luke grabbed me from behind and pulled me away because he saw the anger in my eyes. I tried to put up a fight but what was the use. He was twenty times stronger than me so I wasn't getting anywhere. I managed to calm down. Since it was the end of the day Luke drove me to my house and the car ride was normal. Filled with usual conversation and me ranting about my detentions.

"Luke! Can you believe I have detention for being late again!!" I was still pissed off because of this. I just looked at the ceiling waiting for a reply. Then I looked at him and he was staring at me with his you-are-unbelievable look.

I said "What?"

And he responded with "You have asked me that for the billionth time so can we talk about something else."

"Well sorry what do you want to talk about..?"

"Well I don't know. How are you and Carter?"

Carter is my boyfriend. He's..just... We don't talk much but when we do its about how much he loves me. Which is really annoying because I know when he leaves he cheats on me. I have no proof, yet. He rarely ever comes to school and he's pretty much an outcast at Lakeville High. We haven't had a fight in a while. I guess that's a good thing. But we haven't talked in 11 days. No text , call or anything like that. And then on top of that he doesn't answer me when I call and text. I guess he needs his space. So whatever I guess.

"KARA! You started spacing out on me again. I've been saying your name for the last 5 minutes."

I look at him in disbelief because I hadn't been thinking for that long. Then I respond with "Sorry Luke I was just thinking."

"Well how are you and Carter?"

"Fine." I think he can see in my eyes that I'm lying because he then asked.

"What the hell did he do?"

I just looked up at him and said "Nothing."

"You know I'm always here for you. I'm going to hurt him if he hurts you again!" He says this in a serious tone. He looks at me and then stops as if he didn't want to he caught staring at me.

Then I started to think when the room was silent for a while. He said the word again. He said that because I caught Carter cheating on me before and cried until I said my first asthma since I was 11. This was only a couple months back and I'm 17. I decided to stay with him because I was in love with him but the love is slowly fading. He gets caught again and we are done. We have been together since 9th grade and that's 2 years. Our anniversary is in 5 days. April,8th. He didn't remember last year so I doubt he's going to this year. I have dealt with it before though.

"Kara. I'm leaving because Sabrina is texting me non stop asking me where I am so bye." He gave me a hug and then got up and left my room. As I just stared at him.

Sabrina is his girlfriend. The most popular girl in school and the most popular guy in school together. That was so unexpected. Sabrina hates me for some reason. We have this unspoken hatred for one another. It started when she started dating Luke 4 months ago. Maybe its a jealous thing with her. I have been best friends with Luke since 4th grade. He was all alone because his "friends" left to go play with someone else. So I went up to him and we played together and from then on we just clicked so we became best friends.

Just then my phone started to ring and it was Carter. So I picked it up and he broke up with me..

I feel the tears rushing down my face.

I guess the love hasn't faded that much.
