Sunday was everyone's day off in the studio. Including Joey. She wanted to relax and take a break. Jace and her had been working extremely hard, especially that she had to teach him all the basics and start from the beginning. She had been drilling him. And they all deserved a break.
Joey woke up at 10 a.m., she has been trying to get a regular sleep pattern, but she is having a hard time adjusting. She usually gets 2-3 hours, then wakes up, stays up for an hour or so, and then do that, until she had to wake up at 8 a.m.
Joey decided to get up and make breakfast for her and Gunnar. She put on a pair of yoga pants, a loose shirt, fuzzy socks, and have her hair tied up.
She went out to the kitchen and decided to make eggs and bacon. She wasn't as good as a chef as Gunnar was, but she knew her way around the kitchen. Once she finished her breakfast, she left a note for Gunnar and put his food in the stove.
Joey figured that today would be a good day for cleaning and organizing for her room. She put on "On a Roll", by Icona Pop on her iPhone.
Joey thought around now what her friends would be doing now. Right now, they would be getting ready for finals. Their school was on semesters, so after this, the second semester would start.
Joey went back and got some of her homework from classes and did it. After a few hours she heard Gunnar. Gunnar usually slept until noon. He walked to her door.
Gunnar was at her doorframe. His dirty blond hair was messed up. His green eyes full of sleep. He yawned and had a sleepy smile. He had an old crew shirt on and pajama bottoms. He leaned against the doorframe.
"Morning." He said yawning.
"Gunnar, it's 2:40 in the afternoon." Joey said looking up from her laptop screen at him.
"Whatever." He waved her off. "What are you up to?"
"I did a little cleaning, homework, and now checking up with friends and our family."
"Ah, fun times."
"I made you breakfast." His eyes gleamed up.
"Awesome, thanks, Joey." He said running off into the kitchen.
Joey shook her head. "Boys, even when they are adults they still act so juvenile."
She logged onto Skype to see if anyone was on. She saw Clare online. She immediately pressed the call button.
"Joey! How are you? What's up? How's Cali? How's dancing? And most importantly, how's dancing with the Jace Wilde?"
"Wow, um. I am okay, tired. Next, I am cleaning and doing homework. California is amazing. Dancing here is also amazing. And dancing with the Jace Wilde." She punctuated "the" like Clare said, "Is different..." She said drifting off.
"How different? Good different? Bad different? Well, how could there be a bad different? I mean its Jace Wilde! I mean, come on!" Clare said rambling off. Joey rolled her eyes smiling. She had missed this.
"I don't know yet. But, when I do, I will let you know."
"You have to! I mean so many girls would kill for a chance like that! I mean he is so attractive! If you don't see it, you must be an alien. How could you not fall in love with him? Plus, Joey, I saw the way that you two were looking at each other after your first dance."
"Look, Clare, I..." Joey started, but then she saw Clare star struck. She turned around to find the culprit: the one and only, Jace Wilde.
"Jace..." Joey breathed in shock, and then said his name again in anger.
"That's my name. Don't wear it out." He said smirking and winked. Joey rolled her eyes. Clare was speechless.
Jace walked up to her, put his arm around her, and said grinning and smoothly, "So sorry, Clare, was it?" He turned to Joey for clarification. She nodded glaring at him, shaking off his arm. He grinned and threw his arm around her again, but tighter and squeezed her. Joey let out a small gasp and he grinned wider at her.
"So, Clare, so sorry, but Joey has to go now. You understand, right?" He said grinning and smoothly. Joey noticed now how charismatic he was. He could convince a salesperson to buy their own product.
Clare wordlessly nodded. He grinned.
"Great, thank you. And, nice to meet you." Jace said smoothly and as he closed the laptop, they both could see Clare's eyes grow. Joey was in trouble with her later, and she knew it.
"Jace!" Joey said infuriated.
"What?" He said smirking.
"What? She is going to call me back later and I have to explain to her that! She probably thinks that we were going to make out or something!"
"Well, I'm not opposed to that idea." He said winking at her. For some reason, Joey's lips went dry.
"What? No!" She said shaking her head. He laughed. He was amused by her outburst.
"Wait, how did you get in?" She said in confusing.
"Your brother let me in." He said pointing at the door.
"I have to talk to Gunnar about that later." She muttered to herself.
"What?"
"Nothing. So, where is he?"
"He said he had to go to the store and said he would be back in a few hours."
"Of course." She said rolling her eyes.
"Well, what do you want to do?"
"I don't know. What do you want to do?"
"I am still down for option one." He winked. Joey blushed and pushed him. He laughed.
"Fine, do want me to make us some dinner?"
"Sure, that sounds great."
Joey went out to the kitchen, as Jace followed, and started making curry wurst. It was one of her favorite German dishes.
"What is that?" Jace said peeking over her shoulder as she was boiling it.
"Curry wurst."
"Again, what is that?"
"It is a great German dish. Gunnar used to make it for me all the time, so when I got old enough, he taught me how to."
"Your brother sounds like a great cook."
"Yeah, he is and he is an amazing brother."
"I bet.
"Do you have any siblings?"
"Not technically."
"What do you mean?"
"Well..."
"Oops, shoot, I forgot to put sauce on it."
He laughed at the ridiculousness. She glared at him. He looked at her in an innocent way, put his hand on top of hers, and she stopped glaring at him and her mouth dropped a little. He couldn't look away from her.
It was just like at the end of their first dance together. He really looked at her with her yoga pants, loose fitting v-neck white shirt, and her hair up, and with her glasses on. And to him, she couldn't have looked more naturally beautiful. He got lost in her grey eyes, which looked like the calm before a storm.
Joey couldn't take her eyes off him. Not when he looked at her like that. It was like she and the world around her was frozen. His hand was on hers and for the first time in Joey's life, she had no idea what to do next.
Jace was looking at her like a way that he looked at her after they danced at the show. Joey suddenly felt self-conscious of what she was wearing. She looked down at herself, embarrassed. Jace picked up her face with one of his long fingers. He was inspecting her like a piece of art or a fragile glass.
They both leaned in a little, until the timer scared both of them. They back away from each other. A moment there and a moment gone.
