New Beginnings

It's funny how every school is the same. Sure the facade may look different and unfamiliar faces pass you in the hall and new teachers stand in the front of the classrooms, but the feeling is the same. The anxiety of needing to get good grades, the pining over the boy or girl that you will never have enough courage to talk to.

I have come across so many people who have the audacity to complain about how awful their parents are, how hard their life is, and about how mean their teachers are. It is because of these people that I don't have any friends at this school.

"Tris!"

"Tris!"

"Tris!"

"What?!" I snap at Tyler who has been shouting my name in my ear for the past 15 minutes.

"Wow, someone is a little testy."

"Scram, blockhead."

"Hey, Tris." I couldn't tell if it was still Tyler talking to me but I didn't really care.

"What do you want from me?" I reply, exasperated.

"Nothing from you, just you," Tyler whispers in my ear.

"WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM MAN!" I yell. Immediately I grab his collar and push him against the wall and knee him where the sun don't shine. He immediately bends over groaning in pain.

"Hey! Hey! Tris let him go! Let him go!" Someone pulls me off of Blockhead. "Mom wants us home right now, sound like an emergency."I realize that it is Aiden talking to me.

Aiden is one of my foster brothers I guess I can see why girls think he's hot. His short brown hair and narrow but bold jaw line are enough to make people notice him. His green eyes are kind and forgiving, like his personality. He has a full bottom lip and thin upper lip, his smile makes all the girls fawn over him. In truth, he is one of the nicest people I know; never yells and tries to make you smile. I guess we were opposites but we got along just fine. I also have two other brothers Mason and Charley both are considerably cute. They each have their own specific charm. Mason is more of a darker humored person but still is very funny. Charley just glows with happiness that makes you want to smile when you're around him.

"Ok," I say as I start walking with him, "Do you have any clue as to what's so urgent?"

"Your guess is as good as mine." He replays glancing in my direction.

"Oh good your all here." Mrs. Archer says when we walk through the door. "Can you all come sit on the couch."

Aiden, Charley and Mason, and I all make our way to the couch, casting confused glances at each other.

"You're probably all wonder why I called you here so I'll cut to the chase. As you all know Tris has been living with us for a little over a year now and has been a great addition to our household, but..." She hesitates and my heart starts to beat rapidly. What's going to come out of her mouth next? "Her lawyer has called her back to Chicago for awhile because her father has died. He killed himself and Tris needs to be there to sign papers."

He's dead. Really dead. He can't hurt me or anybody else anymore. "How long will I be there."

"It could be a couple weeks to make sure everything is taken care of, but your father and I have been thinking of moving to Chicago. He got a job offer there that could create better a life for all of us, but we wanted to know what all of you thought first."

"I think it would be fun to change schools and make new friends. Especially lady ones" Mason says with and a dark look in his eyes and his wiggling his eyebrows.

"Same." Charley agrees. "Just without the messed up comment at the end."

"What about you two?" Maranda, my foster mom, asks.

"I think that it's going to effect Tris the most, so she should decide." Aiden offers.

They all stare at me waiting for a response. "Where would we be moving to?" I ask.

"The same community that you used to live because they have the best community closest to Matt's work."

"I think that if everyone else wants to, we should move to Chicago," I say. Maranda nods her head, then heads to her room. Charley and Mason head out the door to Lord knows where. Aiden gives me a tight squeeze then heads to his room, and I am left with my thoughts. What did I just do?
