I close my eyes, "What?"

"If we all got what we deserved, we would all be dead." He repeats.

For some reason what he said struck a cord deep in my core. Rage starts to build as large as the pyramid of Giza. "How dare you," he looks taken aback by my outburst, "My best friend was the kindest, humblest, sweetest person I have ever known. He was selfless until his last breath, protecting me at every turn even when it cost him his life. You have no right to claim that every single person in this world deserves to die, because HE DIDN'T!" I fumble to a chair, collapsing on it, heaving deap breaths as the one thought that I haven't spoken pushes it's way out my mouth, shreading my throat, "And it's all my fault."

I'm not actually mad at the kind old man, or Four, or Mason, or Charley, or even Marlene for that matter. The realization sends shocks through me reverberating through my bones. Again I whisper the cursed words as I burry my face into my palms. Gasping for air as though I am about to drown.

"Do you know anything about God? Miss. I'm sorry I forgot to ask your name."

I glance up not really wanting to get into a discussion about a supreme being at the moment. But some strange feeling brings me to continue the conversation. "My name is Tris."

"Ah, yes, a very beautiful name. Well, Tris, have you heard about God?"

I shake my head. My head telling me to leave but my heart making me stay glued to my seat. "Only in history class."

He chuckles. "Oh yes, the very breif and astonishingly secular veiw on Christianity. Isn't it amazing how they can make something as interesting as religion a bore? And how they managed to make a religion secular is beyond me."

I smile a little bit but I fades as quick as it came.

"Do you believe in fairy tales Tris?" He continues. I shake my head ferociously. A sad smiles forms on his face. "I didn't either at your age. But soon found out that I am living in one, and so are you."

What ever linguring greif existed was replaced with pure curiosity. Brows furrowed my eyes beg for an explanation to his analysis of me.

"In fact every single one of us is living the greatest love story in the whole of history. It is about a Father and his children." His eyes grow soft and full of love as he continues, "There was once a Father who had children and loved them only as a Father can. He was good to them never doing anything to hurt them but one day his children decided that they weren't content with how things were working so they did something that changed the course of history.

They disobeyed their Father for purely selfish reasons because the Father's enemy told them that they would be wise if they did so. The moment this action was completed everything came crashing down. A curse spread throughout the family and all of the Father's children started to commit evil and disturbing acts that went directly against their Father. This hurt the Father so immensely that he couldn't stand it anymore. So he sent down part of himself to save his children. However there is a cost, that part of himsel had to die if the others were to be saved. So the Father let his son die causing the evil in the world to be wiped away." He stops.

"That cant be where the story ends." I say unsatisfied with the conclusion. The old mand looks up through bush eyebrows a smile spreading across his lips.

"Oh dear child that is not where the story ends. The story will never truly end."

Now I'm really confused. "Every story ends at some point."

"You see the story I just told you is not only a story it is history. The Father is God, the children are me, you, and everyone else in this world, and the part of the Father is Jesus, who is also refered to as God's only Son. The real story is a bit more complicated and a lot longer but that's the main point of the story. You see the Father loves his children so much he would sacrifice a part of himself for us."

"Wait, so you say that Jesus is God's only s

on but then you say that we are all his children."

"Ah yes I'm glad you caught that. You see that is where my version of the story is faulty because when I try to make the story more comprehensible for someone who doesn't believe in a supreme being who created everything it gets kinda tricky. God created the world and put Adam and Eve in it and he loved them with an overflowing love but his enemy Satan slithered his way into Adam and Eves home and told them to disobey God's command and they did. Causing sin to leak into the world, along with pain and suffering. After, the world became so corrupt and evil that the laws God made we're being changed and forgotten so he sent Jesus to die on the cross. When Jesus died on the cross he took on every single sin in the world and the sins to come on himself. You see that isn't where the story ends. Because Jesus had never once sined he rose from the grave and went home to heaven to live with his Father. The penlty for sin is death Tris, and every single person in this world has sinned so we all deserve to die but Jesus took that sin so now if we accept Jesus into our lives we don't have to die." He chuckles, "but that is a conversation for a different day, I'm sure your head is spinning."

He was so right, my head is spinning and I try to process what he is saying. Deep down I truly want to believe him to believe that there really is someone out there that loves me. But I can't let myself fall into a fools hope again.

He can tell that I don't believe him and his eyes looks sad. He slowly pulls something out of his bag and I cock my head to the side curious of what could be in there. A brown worn Bible reveals itself. The thin pages fluttering due to the movement. The old man hands me the Bible and I try to refuse it but my hand grabs it before I can say no.

"Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. They are better at telling that story than I am." He smiles when I nod.

He leaves before I can say thank you. Leaving me to my thoughts. I stare at the worn Bible. What.

I understand that religion is a sensitive subject and most people would warn me against including it in a book, but I disagree. If we ignore uncomfortable topics we are living in ignorance and I'm not about to be that type of a person. If anyone has any questions at all about Christianity please ask me I would be more than willing to talk to you about it. Also if you want to debate any topics with me about Christianity, like evidence of evolution and scientifically impossible events, I am happy to discuss that as well. Hope everyone is having an amazing summer. :) ALSO: I started uploading my Vietnam story so if you want to I would be honored if you read that as well. ;)
